Well I expect action tomorrow and Friday another higher bid price around £5.25-£5.50 -just my take as we know £4.50 was low and Cosmens were testing the water so to speak. Clearly Cosmen want to take control and National Express will accept a higher bid with some conditions removed as per latest news. StageCoach are in talks with Cosmens so Cosmens will make a final offer I reckon and take this over and sell parts to StageCoach etc and they will make money from that.
Lets see how far off my guess is ,this is getting interesting as expected.

When the bid was first announced the share price briefly hit 440p. It looks like it is still on the upward trend that started well before the bid so whether there is or is not a bid I see plenty of profit here.

This ones a bit boring today, would have thought there would be a big rise today with all the press over the weekend regarding a possible rebid from Cosmen (£5+?), and Arriva and Stagecoach possibly making a last minute bid as well

ARRIVA CONSIDERING NEW BID
Aug 28 2009 by Iain Laing, The Journal

NORTH East transport group Arriva is considering a bid for East Coast Mainline operator National Express.

And struggling National Express is also mulling an increased takeover offer of almost £700m from its biggest shareholder the Cosmen family.

The board of the rail and coach firm which runs the Edinburgh to London main service via Newcastle is weighing up the new offer but said it was also considering a range of other options. This includes a possible rights issue as it looks to accelerate the reduction of its £977m debt pile.

David Martin, the chief executive of Sunderland-based bus and train company Arriva, said he was evaluating the situation to see if there was a promising opportunity.

Also Arriva could make a bid so thats StageCoach and Arriva and the Cosmen family. I think £5+ will be the next bid approach.

"Most shareholders are opposed to the bid and supportive of National Express. A bid would have to be a lot higher, or there is no chance," FT quoted another top 10 shareholder, who did not want to be named.

The shareholders clearly prefer as per news today a rights issue OR a HIGHER BID. Come on StageCoach show us the MONEY.

Could you please pen your thought on bid of £4.50 but the share price is not moving close to the bid price. why?

450p a share. I think that undervalues the company although it is a good profit from the 260p I paid.

It's hard to know when to buy a share. It's harder to know when to sell.

Sep 11th is the crucial date. Put up or shut up by Cosmen.
