Rights issues are usually heavily discounted like 40% so they'd want the share price to rise first or it's going to be a pretty low price to attract people.

The article should draw the Cosmens into making a decent unconditional bid as the current approach has too many conditions and is unclear and could also draw Stagecoach into making a bid.

I see it as positive for the company either way.

There are bound to be people that jump ship today as they were only in due to the speculation of an offer being made for 400p a share or more.

And if you read the end of the article, it says they will still consider an unconditional offer so it's not off the cards yet.

They are just looking to pick NX on the cheap then flog off the business units, the Cosmen's probably only want the Spainsh business. Stagecoach have been after NX West Midlands since it was first privatised...

Trouble is how will the shareprice react on the news or will it mean any possible takeover bids will have to be set at a higher price to get the managements attention?

I don't think the Cosmen's/CVC & Stagecoach will be too pleased if this is the final out come.

Well the price of the issue (if indeed there is one)would have to be around 250p IMO!!

The Times this weekend reports that NX has the green light from its other main shareholders for a £350million rights issue & to stay independant.



I don't think the Cosmen's/CVC & Stagecoach will be too pleased if this is the final out come.

I love it. The first analyst puts a negative spin on the results and the share price drops. The second analyst upgrades the target price and puts a positive spin on the news then the share price rises.

What a crock of sh*t!! They're probably down the pub celebrating right now!

I'm amazed that people are stupid enough to trade on anything these people say.

Just wish I'd purchased some more shares at today's low like Boobly said!

The AT trading and L2 book over the past few days has been crazy with sales going through at higher prices than purchases and L2 orders bouncing all over the place like some drunken programmer has been at work.

I feel sorry for people jumping ship only to see the price go up by 2% two minutes later before it dips back again.

It's like a war between two computers that are running on inadequate voltage closely followed by a spike!

Crazy.

MF10:.....Can`t disagree with most of that , just a bent Casino these days .
What is also disappointing - so far - is the slippage post bid noise . While this is to be expected after the run up , I think we will see further gains as the real picture starts to emerge .
FWIW ; my view is that the company will be broken up and overall we should see an aggregated return of some 10% to 15% above the price prevailing at the point the `Bid` interest was announced , ie ; somewhere around £4.00 .
I would hope to see a bit of a recovery from now on . GLA.

If you are a trader then you have to fish in those dirty waters. If you are an investor like Me then you don't need to worry about them because in the medium to long term they don't make much difference. I am still about a third up in NEX and am not concerned about a few % in the short term.

C2C franchise ends first half of 2011 and is the next scheduled franchise to be offered whether withdrawn or not ... so even if withdrawn from NEX .. the new operator will be at max 12 months early. But C2C is a relatively small franchise.

I am not in this, however, there is an article in today's Guardian which should be read, not good news, i am afraid. Guardian reports Adonis is to strip it of all its licences as a form of cruel and unusual punishment. Not sure how lawful it is, but no doubt it will weigh with bidders.

SGC announcement that they are sniffing around. They obviously want some of the bits more than others. Still we might get a bidding war. If Brian Souter decides to go for it we could have an interesting time. The share price certainly isn't going down at the bell.
