Yes, QTM next one for the chop. QD vision went this year and they were a significant player with large-scale industrial production coming out of Taiwan. The competitive landscape is reducing. Next up is Nanosys. I've heard a lot of their cadmium production has been shifted and contracted to China. That's worrying. Still unable to produce cad free dots. Think Samsung has a 40% stake in Nanosys, so they may have a limited future assuming they win their patent battle. If not they're dead meat..

Which will leave only two. Hansol and Nano, who are linked up with the two biggest chemical companies on the planet.

Probably both will be successful, though Hansol do have borrowed IP and Samsung are paying through the nose to Nanosys for it. Not ideal in my view.

In just over 12 months from now the exemption in Europe for cadmium will expire. Funny that it will expire probably before it was ever formally sanctioned by the EU. Anyway, it's history. So what do the Chinese do?

Enter Wah Hong and Merck. Wah Hong expanding their cutting capacity. Should be ready by March 2017. Slip will say they are foolish, but they are a successful company so I doubt it. And remember Wah Hong is Nano's direct route to market, but they are also producing for Merck, who are using their own film partners. So commercialisation can come from Wah Hong or Merck or both. Nano of course the supplier. They can now manufacture some 500 kgs of Qdots, some $50 million worth annually.

And then there's Dow with a huge factory in Korea. They might have gone quiet but they haven't given up. 50 million automated factory ready to go.

Merck will have the same in quick time. By Oct 2017 paying double digit royalties to Nano. So $50 million out of Runcorn and then Dow and then Merck.

And the industry is exploding. Only 1.5% quantum dot display sold this year. What percentage next year. Merck knows what's happening to the industry and to the science. They're gearing up at light speed.

Nano still at all time lows with the chickens and their heads being separated every week giving money to the likes of slip and the other market vultures. In fact there is a whole industry dedicated to taking your money. But they aren't getting any of mine...

On reflection, 2016 was a positive year for Nano. 2017 will be better... But the real fruits will be a few years out when the display industry is 20-30% Qdot. Another year out and it will be 60%.

Don't assume science is static. Nano making significant scientific progress every 6 months. Some 80 scientists working out of Manchester university...

Well, I'm off to the beach also for a bit of sun and relaxation...

See you in the new year...

Ok it is the end of the year and time to let bygones be bygones.

Happy New Year to the Nanoco thread. I am abroad so will be celebrating a little earlier than you guys. In the morning I shall be nursing a hangover on the beach I suspect.

Good Luck all for 2017. And lets hope Mrs May triggers article 50 on schedule and goes for the full hard brexit so 'we' can decide for ourselves who comes to and goes from our shores, our own laws and who we trade with. The first steps in the road to the abolusion of the rediculous concept of political correctness and positive descrimination. Let us call a spade a spade and let the best man or woman get the job they deserve. Let us put the Great back into Britain again.

Happy New Year NANO holders/bulls! Hope CES does the business so to speak! This will be the key for me and my holding may depend on the newsflow. I have been in NANO long enough to: a) lose money, b) see opportunity in other investments lost, and c) become frustrated with management and real progress. Perhaps 2017 will really be NANO's year and the header was just one year too early, but the green shoots of something worth hanging on for really need to show a bit more IMO.

I see sloppy is making "friends" a plenty on the GVC board where I just checked the progress after not entering for most of the year. What a pleasant chap he seems to be, NOT!

I think posters have neglected the cadmium/cad free debate. Samsung's newest generation of cad free TV's puts the cadmium producers to bed for good. They've not only proven cad free is viable but also that it's actually significantly better than the cadmium Qdots on offer.

So that takes Nanosys and the Chinese cadmium producers out of the market.

That only leave two possible supply routes ... Hansol and Dow/Merck/Nano.

Together they can't produce enough, so it's time to stop the assertion that only one will dominate.

In 2016 Qdot TV's comprised 1.5% of the total TV market. That figure is going to rise rapidly, exponentially in fact.

And the fact that Nano only needs 6 weeks of production from Runcorn to move to break even should put the willies up the shorters... One commercial supply agreement should do it from the 20 plus global display OEMs...

Off on holiday now for a while... See what CES brings.

Whatever way we look at it, no revenue means another fundraising, and ME has effectively put a lid on the issue price by selling his stock at 40 odd. Very selfish move and one that will be costlyvfor holders when dilutuon is factored in.
