06/6/2018 10:08 | Ah that makes better sense. Thought it said QLED in a TV ad but must have been mistaken. | woolybanana
05/6/2018 22:35 | Sony is OLED not QLED. | andycapped

30/5/2018 10:29 | andy, it was a bit of frivolity, that said it we must be close to an RNS regarding WH, and a progress report on the expansion of Runcorn | notimpressed
30/5/2018 09:46 | We know they're developing QD with OLED materials in conjunction with Kyulux, but nothing beyond that, | andycapped
29/5/2018 20:33 | perhaps nano are producing oled, just have n't bothered to tell anyone | notimpressed
29/5/2018 10:18 | Don't forget that pesky cadmium. | boris cobaka
29/5/2018 09:41 | There's a second disadvantage with LCD on mobile applications- battery life. LCD's tend to consume less current, but when displaying content with a lot of white background (e.g. a great deal of webpages, including this one) they tend to be more thirsty, as the backlight really has to work hard. I think that, along with issues of off axis viewing angles and packaging are why microLED is being actively pursued. However the manufacturing hurdles are considerable with this technology so I think we are still some years away from widespread adoption of that tech. | andycapped
29/5/2018 09:15 | QD screens as used on TVs are apparently slightly thicker which is a sensitive issue for mobile phone manufacturers, and seems to beat the benefits of extra efficiency and/or extra screen brightness. Can't see the screen on my phone in the sun though, so think extra brightness would be more important than thickness. | noccer
29/5/2018 09:14 | Don't believe that anyone thought the US corp agreement was for display materials anyway, so what bearing does that news have? | andycapped
29/5/2018 08:16 | maybe it was that news that forced ME's hand recently?him being closer to the action, etc .. | jfacwc
29/5/2018 06:01 | Oh well maybe next time..... | boris cobaka
25/5/2018 10:56 | haha - excellent roadster made me laugh out loud for the right reasons :-) | mr.oz
25/5/2018 10:35 | 5 million pounds is quite difficult to get over both physically and mentally :) The amount of £ 5,000,000 would have in 1 Pound Sterling Coins a weight of 47.50 t. A single stack of money with 5,000,000 Coins would be 15.75 km (9.79 miles) high und would have a volume of at least 7,973.44 litres. The volume is of course strictly speaking smaller. If you would melt the coins down, then you would have a volume of 6,262.32 litres. | roadster750
25/5/2018 09:35 | You need to get over ME selling a few shares. Yes, Nano rapid growth. Doubling in size with the share price up 100% since Feb. Not bad at all. Though my comment was more about the Nano industry's rapid growth, which is pretty undeniable. More payments coming on completion of the new factory plus payments for nano developments. AUO QD panels next bit of news. | rochdae
25/5/2018 09:28 | Think the Runcorn plant footprint has gone from the original 3000sq ft in 2011, to 10000sq ft c2016 after renegotiation of Dow deal and deal with Wah Hong, and now doubled to 20000sq ft with US deal. Lets hope some part of that space is actually commercial production and not making samples for people. | noccer
25/5/2018 08:48 | boris, the company value is growing, there is demand for its product, hence doubling the footprint at Runcorn, patience is a virtue | notimpressed
25/5/2018 06:57 | Look to be fair guys he did need that new extension and the current infinity pool was just too small. nano is basically his ATM. I don't think anyone here would begrudge the CEO selling some stock if we'd actually seen growth in the value of the company sp-wise through evidence that there was a clear demand for the company's product and proven value in it's ip. | boris cobaka
25/5/2018 02:06 | Finally, news is more likely to be positive than negative going forward imo. Yet ME sold shares. Hmm.... I tend to agree with those who think the story will be good here, but ME should surely hold onto his shares and show confidence in the business rather than sell "for charity purposes" at lower prices than he could sell them for in a few years time (assuming the bulls here are correct of course). Selling some of a holding for tax purposes is a good reason, but at this stage it doesn't make so much sense for someone in his position to sell for other reasons. Still, I suppose more generous options will be handed out soon enough to fill the trough again. | lauders |
