No, not necessarily. Blue share price maybe, but blue buys according to ADVFN is completely inconclusive, although I know people can take solace from it. I see to as well.

maybe so Onething. Whatever the reasons/impacts, with a patient, existing, position, a blue day sure beats a red one, anytime.

The 'buy ratio' means close to nothing. It's a zero sum game. What has been bought ultimately has to have been sold. Then factor in that brokered trades are often counted twice, but DNA trades only once, and there is a clear 'other side' to a dma trade. It's just too complex to look at a day where there seems to be more buys and sells according to ADVFN's flawed gimmick colour scheme.Professional traders just pay attention to overall volume.

besides the decent buy ratio, think it would be significant if the share price could close (v. soon) around the 41 mark

healthy buying today by a factor of at least four to one

And at Display Week:

Mark Verrall
SVP, R&D, Display Materials, Merck

Abstract:
For over 40 years, Merck has been the technology and market leader in liquid crystals (LCs) for displays, used in all types of LCD screens from large size public displays, TV’s, monitors, and mobile devices. Merck continues to invest heavily in R&D for future generations of displays and we introduce an exciting range of innovative new materials that enable the next leaps forward in display performance.

Our latest developments in Liquid Crystals include new fast-switching LC modes, materials for free-form and flexible applications, as well as completely new applications outside of the conventional display market.

Merck also offers the so-called “full stack” of materials for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), considering and evaluating the influence of all relevant materials in the device. Merck’s OLED materials comprise both vapor-based as well as solution-based applications.

Merck also develops spherical and rod-shaped quantum materials which can be used within LCD backlight units, or as display layers to increase light throughput (e.g. QD pixel color converter).

Our organic TFT materials can enable the printing of high performance TFT arrays even on low cost and low melting point plastics, and therefore open the door to development of fully flexible substrates and future plastic-based displays.

Furthermore Merck’s fine patterning photoresists and siloxanes for high resolution photolithography and planarization of TFT backplanes, complete a comprehensive product portfolio for an enhanced visual experience in every aspect of next generation displays.

I'd like to know too, also how do you know Dow are selling, and not just sampling?

sd - I'm aware there is a modest amount of royalty money due in in 2016/17 to the tune of about £500k and that Nanoco have struck agreements for Wah Hong and Merck to market their dots. But can you remind me where the evidence is that Wah Hong have sold any nanoco based film to manufacturers to be used in production TVs?

Well done Ih- brilliant spot and the share price is ticking up a little.

AndrewBaker- if Nano's product is up to scratch, then it will sell. Two perspectives on the recent Quantum Materials Corp uplift: 1) Their new Chinese investor may jealously guard QMC's production 2) Cad-Free is obviously making an impact.QMC had already secured a sampling arrangement with Kisco of Japan for Cadmium-Free QDs.

There are only three producers of Cad-free QDs: Samsung/Hansol; QMC; Nanoco. It is encouraging that Nanoco are putting themselves about at the conferences for lighting and QDs.

Ostensibly, Nanoco has the potential for truly global reach which would transcend any restrictive European/US trade politics. Let's hope that Edelman is pulling his weight in the US with liason with Dow and its own QD development project and with Merck who have a major research lab in Massachusetts.

Final point- I agree with Onething that, if things go well, we will see an uplift in the share price sometime before a major announcement is made- that's been the history so far, at any rate.

My patience, as I've said before, has grown more than just very thin: regardless of how good or not the product is, it has to be commercial, and actually sell, and bring in worthwhile revenues. The company has had more than enough time to get their act together, and have failed miserably so to do. As posted about a month ago, I'm prepared to sell out at 45p. (being an appreciable loss), which I feel will be attained before the next leg down. So ... all you supporters, start/keep buying, and there will be a lot on offer at 45p. when the price gets there: so you can gobble them up at what you will consider a 'steal.' You're welcome. :)

Oh for crying out loud! Right I'm biting! Let's get some facts straight shall we!? Nanoco are producing dots in Runcorn and shipping them to WH who coat the film and sell it to OEMs, it has been announced that this is happening, right now, actual sales of actual QDs. Fact. Secondly Dow are selling, not just sampling, but actual commercial sales on which they are paying royalties to Nanoco every quarter. "Modest" amounts at present but real sales to real customers, not just sampling.

ih's (10300) post would suggest that either they are selling the things or simply recruiting staff for fun. Not sure that they would be running double shifts if this were sampling. Any thoughts?

"How keen is anyone going to be to support another call at sub 40p?" No, Nano is obviously not "keen" on this. Nano is one of the few small companies I invested in, that is DEBT FREE. At a time when interest is peanuts. And things are coming into place for Nano.

balaura - nanoco is burning through money fast. If it does not sell some dots soon there will have to be a further cash call with serious dilution, or worse. The last one, a couple of years ago, raised £20m at £1.05. How keen is anyone going to be to support another call at sub 40p?

In fact, it could be the HIGHLIGHT of the Quantum Dots Forum 2017!!!!!

"The co-located Quantum Dots Forum will take place immediately following the Phosphor Global Summit. As the largest forum to date, you won't want to miss your chance to attend!

Presentations recently added to the conference agenda include:

Electrospun Nanofiber Sheet Containing Quantum Rods presented by Dr. Masaki Hasegawa, Merck"

Probable products will be sun cream for Caroline Watson, buckets of oysters and bubbles for Needle-mans yacht. Perhaps a big box of books to fill their idle time !

Tonsil - you said you were up for doing some research into Nanoco.
Their head office is in Grafton Street in central Manchester.
On the web site there is a picture of an impressive office building, with the word SCALE. This is the University of Manchester Innovation Centre.
They share it with the companies shown here:
hxxp://www.umic.co.uk/umic-tenants/

Their production facility is in The Heath industrial park in Runcorn
hxxp://www.theheath.com/
Its the site of a re-purposed ICI facility. A wide range of small businesses are located there:
hxxp://www.theheath.com/directory/wpbdp_category/all/

It would be interesting to sit outside the nanoco unit and count the amount of product being shipped out. The question is would it be containers, buckets, envelopes or nothing?

From a current Nanoco job ad- "Working hours:

12 hours shifts, following 24 hr operation. This will comprise of a Day Shift running from 7.00am – 7.00pm and a Night Shift running from 7.00pm – 7.00am. This will follow a 24/3.5 pattern. You will be required to work this pattern which is four days on, three days off, three nights on, four days off. It is a two week repeating cycle across the year. It does not include weekend working, although flexibility is required as the site may operate varied shift work patterns as demand requires."

you would hope that Merck, Dow, WH are all paying for Nanoco's presence at these Forums(Conferences)? After all, it is to their benefit..
