Indeed they are.Being held back by the Icelandic uncertainty. However I still think we will see a gentle re rating over the months ahead

All pretty good to me - cash will flow onto the bottom line in the year ahead as stated :

Group's balance sheet is strong with no debt. Stocks have risen due to growth in the business and because production and purchases were planned and committed in anticipation of higher sales before the downturn in the economy. Production and purchases have been adjusted for the forthcoming year and the benefits of this are expected to flow through as a reduction in working capital and an increase in cash.

The results reflect the strength of the brand - not yet reflected in the share price IMO.

Strong trading in the prelims today; particulary in UK for last 10 weeks.

Sales well up, maintained divi and good prospects - I see a nice rise in the share price coming along.

Back in, last sold out over £1 for a small profit. Impressed with the company and think that it has a good future, I would not be at all surprised if it was taken out at some stage. The current economic climate is clearly challenging, although I hope this share is close to the bottom of it's trading range. (Probably spoke too soon!)

This is not looking too clever today. If it falls to 50p I will have some more. That seems the be the historical support level.

They are. There are not many retailers that have as strong a balance sheet as MUL. NO DEBT, Intangibles of only 2 mil - strip them out net assets of over 20 mil. Strong cash flow.
The last trading update said results WILL BE AHEAD OF MARKET EXPECTATIONS. At present I can only think it is the Icelandic shareholding holding this back, ceating a little uncertainty. Otherwise surely these are due a big bounce.

Comment re Burberry results yesterday :

Stacey Cartwright, chief financial officer, said that customers were still buying luxury goods in spite of the downturn but were opting for more classic ranges and shopping less often.

"The UK has been one of our strongest markets over the past months. It's benefited from a lot of tourists coming into London. It's a cheap place to shop if you've got euros," she said.

Good to have you on board. It needs some sustained buying to lift it out of the current trading rage IMHO.

Good opportunity to grab some here; have traded this several times in the past.

Strong brand; premium pricing; takeover always a probability with this one.

Particularly now with the Icelandic stake in limbo.

Bought in today.

Yes. I suppose uncertainty around possible 25% overhang is probably holding the price back. But at some point these will be back in favour.

Consolidating and taking control of USA -

It was concluded that MUSA should close three shops and that Mulberry should
acquire the remaining two shops in New York and take back the retail and
wholesale rights to the US. This will allow a coordinated marketing and sales
approach for the whole US market (including online retail) and enable a simpler and more cost effective structure.

I wonder why - could this be a precursor to more corperate news further out !

Oh well The Big - have we bought ourselfs a pup here - still going down :

WHETHER down to moderate winter temperatures, recession depression or the desire to shop for an investment piece, shoppers helped Mulberry to an unprecedented sales performance this year - courtesy of their Christmas shopping.

The Mitzy collection has been designed to complement the brand's ready-to-wear clothing range, which targets a slightly younger customer.

A spokeswoman for Mulberry said: "We've had some really positive feedback from buyers, including from My-Wardrobe, Matches and Net-a-Porter. The younger Mitzy family could be one of our bestsellers."

Mr Davis said: "I've been through a couple of downturns before but bags have tended to be counter-cyclical as a business.

"The theory is that to buy a new season's piece of clothing may seem slightly frivolous but if you buy a bag it will last for two or three seasons."

I have bought a few of these for the long haul. They are proving pretty resilient to the downturn yet the share price is a fraction of what it was. Due a re rating but probably below most peoples radar.

I know its only Scotland but could it be a trend -

Handbag therapy

What to do with those recessionary blues. For a certain part of society, it's obvious... new shoes or a handbag.
