Not doing much research for your 'research article' are you? Try reading all the rns's and bb comments and it is pretty clear. Also look at research notes. Good to see that lazy journalism is flourishing during these hard economic times!

Doing a research article based on the Top 100 performing shares on AIM in 2010. Can anyone give a quick summary of why this rose so much in 2010 and whether and what there were any early signs of the massive rise in share price. Thanks Moab

Possibility of a takeover and an irrational market are the only things stopping me from going short. New highs being hit today with 1000p hit for the first time. Price moves in big chunks so good luck brownie, but not looking too healthy for you today!

I don't think I will go short until the trend starts turning downwards.

Just dipped a toe in the water on the short side.

Crazy valuation let alone the CEO dumping a sizeable part of his holding in the 800's last month. One little stumble should easily see a couple of quid off the price.

BTW Worldspreads let me short with no problems or delay.

Just gone short. Crazy valuation considering CEO dumped a sizeable part of his holding in the 800's last month. All the upside built in , one little stumble should see a couple of quid off this easily.

James - possible, but I didn't see that reported anywhere and it is still unusual as he doesn't have that large a holding.

I noticed that one of the New Year tips from one of the papers was Mulberry. Saying it is the next Burberry with lots of stores opening etc. My head tells me this is overvalued, but I am not betting against this market.

goliard, i think maybe the CEOs chunk went to an institutional investor who couldnt pick up enough on the open market. we shall see

And I have only just noticed that the CEO sold a big chunk of his shares for about 850p a couple of days ago.

Agree totally guys, however this one just defies logic, and of course there is the what if factor.
what would be needed to take over the company, what would the share price be if more than one company wanted it. wouldnt like to be short in that situation.

Big Fella - I have gone through similar calculations. I have also added in higher margins too and get £8 as fair value if they have perfect performance. Agreed re short, but my worry is another luxury retiler with cash deciding that this is a good investment.

At what point to I take my chances? £10?

IG wont accept no more shorts on this - they are clearly expecting a heavy drop.

Well done to those that held. 5 years ago, who would have thought this would have reached these dizzy heights - going the same way as ASOS it seems and a target for takeover.

Well done James. I would hang in there and keep each new £1 increase as my base to sell on a dip, ie sell if it goes below £8, but if it moves above £9 then use that instead. Remarkable recovery in fortunes!

I see its tipped in quantum leap as a buy - talking about it as if its just at the beginning of its upward path, rather than having got there. The next Burberry. Can't somehow see the chavs swinging £700 handbags from their shoulders though!
