A few big sells coming through in last hour.
At this price World Fashion Domination is priced in, and that simply ain't gonna happen!

Well I've been brave and have gone against this long term trend and opened a short. Many people have failed and lost big doing this before now but I think now is the right time. This has just got crazy! Mulberry handbags may drift out of fashion just as quickly as they came in. As soon as people like James start taking their profits this will fall back. It's only a small position to start with so I can comfortably hold if this rise continues and increase my short as necesary.
I'm looking forward to common sense returning to this share price!

Awesome James111 for holding it all the way . I wish i had picked these up last Aug ( i was thinking about but missed the boat )

I ran quick checks on the company today .

Broker estimates from Altium

Adjusted pre-tax profit = £15m
EPS for Spet 11 = 18.1p

Forward PE @ 1400p = 77

-------------------
PE @ £40m profit = 29
-------------------

I agree that they have potential to open up stores everywhere and Nouveau riche Asians are gonig to be a new market. For that reason, 1400P might be a fair price couple of years down the line, but for now it is over bought, imo.

£14.00 touched on the offer today... Wow!

Not far until this is a £1 billion company. It all feels like the Emperor's New Clothes to me.

£16 by the end of next week?

I see the finance director has sold nearly half his holding - but then what would he know?

I was allowing for 100% increase in sales and still couldn't justify this price, but who knows, it may keep going. Not brave enough to bet against this.

Nice to see that they are still leaving every other retailer in dust - see today's trading statement.

The rise is being helped by short positions being forced to close and buy back positions. Look at IG, the largest CFD provider, they cant accept any more short positions because they hsve used their max allowance.

Me too. Thing I can't get my head round is that even if someone was looking at it, how could they offer a premium to this price? A bid of £1 billion would be needed or say, £15 a share (haven't checked my maths!). The PE multiple looks increasibgly bizarre, yet the price just keeps going. Still can't bring myself to bet against the trend and go short.

it baffles me, but hanging in for the ride. almost sold at £2 never thought it would get to these levels. someone must know something, there has to be someone looking at the company. why else the rise?

To be contrary, those of us who are in at the low shouldn't be congratulated, we should be hung, drawn and quartered for not having recognised the gift horse when closely examining its dentures and put the blinking mortgage on it. Grrrr!

Very well done you guys who are long. It just looks way overvalued at this price to me but I shall not be fighting it or adding to my position until it turns down for whatever reason.

Ditto - bought at 57p to gain a shareholder discount and based on the solid underpinnings but never expecting to get this far! Just wish we had put more than pin money into it!

My wife loves this company and I love the men's stuff too. That's why I was interested at 80p. The only justification for these rises seems to be the planned store openings and the potential for the brand to expand massively and become another Burberry. I think it is overvalued, but I don't like fighting the market.

PS off it goes again today to over 1200.

1400 for the end of next week...???

Defying gravity could apply to this share. One can only watch and wonder, but something is encouraging people to keep buying. It will either get too expensive to be a buy-out target or someone will say,"We'd better buy now before it gets out of reach". Either way, they make great handbags!

I have just taken a very mild short position only as a marker whilst I do some research but this seems rather overvalued at first glance for a retailer even though the luxury goods end of the market may not get so hurt by tightening of the purse strings ! A p/e over 45 for the current year and even 35 to March 2012 just seems too rich and any slippage will see major retrace I presume.

Yes, no big buys and no RNS so no obvious reason for the rise in share price Not that i'm complaining.

MM's up to something?

I guess brownie's short got stopped out! Up another 8% today, now 1166p on the bid. No rns about stakebuilding from anyone so I am at a loss to understand this. Up 30% since I thought it was overvalued!
