28/5/2010 10:16 | Ah you could have told him you had sold CR ! Guess he dont have L2 either ! mreasygoing - 28 May'10 - 10:06 - 72965 of 72969 Bought some more MOSB. Chart looks good long term, great recovery prospects. Cautious statement but reflects what most companies are currently saying about fragile consumer spending. | watchout2
28/5/2010 07:52 | Certainly have to agree with you there CR must be due a broker upgrade | pmeldrum
28/5/2010 07:44 | Good statement imo. Sales up 12%. House brokers Altium forecasting a sales decline of 1% for the year. MOSB would have to have a sales decline of some 14% in H2 for that to happen - looks like the sales gain in H2 will be around 10% imo. I think these will look well ahead come H1 results and we'll see why the chairwoman has been buying heavy. CR | cockneyrebel
28/5/2010 07:44 | Cautious but confident Probably the best way to play things at the moment Interim Management Statement Release - 28 May 2010 @ 07.00 am Moss Bros Group plc, the UK's leading suit specialist, today provides its Interim Management Statement for the 16 week period from 31 January 2010 to 22 May 2010. · Total sales for the first 16 weeks continued to perform strongly and were 12% up on last year. Like for like sales were 12.6% ahead for the same period. Performance comparison with last year will become more challenging in the second half due to the improving trend that was evident in the second half of 2009/10. · As budgeted, average gross profit margin percentage for the period was 2.7% below last year, but the impact of a strong sales performance lifted total gross profit ahead of last year. · The Group continues to manage its day to day capital requirements through a surplus cash balance. Our GBP5m banking facility has been renewed until 31st May 2011. · The business continues to make good progress in tough market conditions, but the Board is mindful of the macro-economic environment and its impact on consumer spending. We therefore remain cautious about the outlook for the year ahead but confident of our long term growth prospects. Commenting on the outlook, Brian Brick, Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are pleased with the sales momentum which has continued into this year. We remain cautious about the economic environment, but we continue to develop and strengthen our product offering and the presentation of our stores, as well as focusing on the quality of customer service. We believe we are well placed to leverage our strengths and remain confident about our long term growth prospects". The Group expects to announce Interim Results on 29 September 2010. | pmeldrum

08/5/2010 11:17 | Sorry MikeD500, can't tell you why they hold that cash but it's nice they have it. Always suspected MOSB have huge potential and the pieces all look in place now imo. Simon Berwin with a huge stake, Debbie Hwewitt looks a great appointment as Chair and she's been buying shares pretty heavily and now they are going to start a bespoke chain: Savile Row looks rattled too :-) Interim Management Statement here by the end of the month and they look to have sales running well ahead of forecasts at the moment. CR | cockneyrebel
01/5/2010 14:45 | Does anyone know why they hold so much cash, according to the last ic results page 6.3 million. nav stands at 36p, any uplift in sales should see a good re- rating. Hugo Boss recently reported an uplift in sales, Moss owns the UK franchise, although not sure how much of the business this is. | miked500

15/4/2010 20:31 | Good figures and chart looks good too, jumped onboard. Looks good for a long term recovery. I also like FCCN, JJB and ALY for a recovery among the retailers. | mreasygoing
15/4/2010 20:20 | why the sharp rise today? | cool_hand
15/4/2010 15:05 | Moving up pretty solidly. Broker forecasts are for about 7% sales growth - if LFL is 15% then they look well ahead of forecasts on the sales side anyway. CR | cockneyrebel
15/4/2010 10:03 | Ticking up today. Go and run the numbers...with the recent 15% increase in LFL sales and 12% gross margin, trim a few costs here and there and it's not hard to see that MOSB becomes very profitable very quickly. With such a strong balance sheet (TBV about 32m vs market cap 22m, no debt, no pension problems and over 6m cash) the downside is fairly well protected. EAsy to see why head honcho bought a shedload recently. I predict a "comfortably ahead" statement in the IMS due end of May.... | britishb

25/3/2010 10:08 | Board seems upbeat in its results statement but i am not totally certain what to make of it Market seems unmoved either way | pmeldrum
23/3/2010 20:21 | I Hope so CWA1 Shares magazine had this as a sell this week because of David Adams resignation saying until management stablity can be seen market will be concerned. Also MOSB are cursed with a unusual share register. Lets hope Good results do the talking | pmeldrum |
