28/11/2008 13:03 | Looks like he sold down his previous holding first, so bid appears unlikely, unfortunately... Rgds dell All IMHO, DYOR etc. | dell314
28/11/2008 12:58 | "The deal will take Mr Berwin's stake to around 33 per cent - and will therefore trigger an automatic takeover bid for the company. " Nice to have that confirmed! | godolphin
28/11/2008 12:52 | bletherer - I was looking at wiki for my source of takeover rules which says 3 months, I always thought it was 6 months. No logic here. The only thing I can come up with is that Shami Ahmed may have been playing with CFDs again and the liqidators for Echelon have have already dumped the stock into the market. I think Shami would have had a good idea about a potential bidder, even if he didn't know the details and he made a bit of a killing a few years ago so may have been trying to repeat that success. Just in case people don't know LEG used Echelon Wealth as their broker and have lost their money. See LEG announcement today. | godolphin
28/11/2008 12:45 | just bought loads - crazy price consiering the circumstance | narindg
28/11/2008 12:37 | We're both mystified! Sorry if people jumped in on my post, but it just stated the facts. He has over 30%, he's got to bid, and it's got to be 50% above the current price (19p). Unless I have, indeed, missed something, like a disposal of the first stake. But even then why buy the Green stake if he doesn't intend bidding? | godolphin
28/11/2008 12:30 | Bit mystified why the price has dropped back to 20p. Just checked the data for June 20th, when the previous transaction took place, and the price then varied between 35 and 38p. Are the City boys just asleep or have I missed something? | bletherer
28/11/2008 12:24 | I just checked the code and I think the June price does count - it goes back 12 months, according to rule 9.5: "An offer made under Rule 9 must, in respect of each class of share capital involved, be in cash or be accompanied by a cash alternative at not less than the highest price paid by the offeror or any person acting in concert with it for any interest in shares of that class during the 12 months prior to the announcement of that offer." | bletherer
28/11/2008 12:11 | Actually the takeover rules only go back 3 months. So the previous purchase price won't count. But he has to make a bid if it's over 30%. | godolphin
28/11/2008 11:57 | Bid would offer vertical integration as they're a major supplier according to the article kindly supplied by godolphin | bletherer
28/11/2008 11:55 | Crikey, if so then current share price would appear to be offering free money. If he has over 30% he MUST make an offer and it must be above the maximum price of shares he's acquired in the last 6 (?) months, i.e. at or above 28.85p. Or am I missing something? At any rate, looks like those who dumped MOSB are rapidly jumping back on board. | bletherer
28/11/2008 11:42 | Doesn't this take Simon Berwin over 30%? | godolphin
27/11/2008 14:15 | Could this be like NAG invested in WLW, then later because philip green has a big stake in buy cheap in a fire sale later...If he had to bid for the company now, he would have to bid 35p+, now he can relax whait for things go cheaper and buy cheaper later. | mali7
27/11/2008 12:32 | just announced...no bid for now, so share price dropping back. | bletherer
26/11/2008 21:36 | same today..sales mopped and slight tick up..admittedly on the closing sp | badtime
26/11/2008 01:06 | I noticed that as well and wondered it's significance.Surely it's a positive development. After practically triplying in a week, I felt the share price would ease back to 25p but no lower. Apparently the Gee Family own 22% so PG with his 28% could be home and dry if he could convince them to sell but I can't see them selling at anything like these levels. Surely it's up, up and away from current levels if we assume that PG is serious (and everything I've read suggests he is very serious). There are some links to Newspaper articles on the Value thread -see VAL. regards | rainmaker
25/11/2008 17:55 | Sells mopped up without too much trouble...and then thers tht change of ownership rns..hmmm | badtime
25/11/2008 10:39 | gone a little quiet..zzzz | badtime
19/11/2008 00:54 | Yep, profit taking not surprisingly since the share price has all but trebled over the last week or so regards | rainmaker
18/11/2008 22:12 | I guess everyperson has his price..wonder what his will be | badtime
18/11/2008 20:43 | if kevin stanford dont agree to sell 10%, the shares cant be delisted, green holding duff shares, lol | westcoastrich
18/11/2008 19:20 | bit of profit taking? | badtime
17/11/2008 18:27 | Nibbled on a few at 32p | badtime
16/11/2008 01:41 | From everything I know and have read recently,I would expect positive action from Phil Green next week with a bid at 40/45p a share.I know the official statement says that a bid cannot relied upon but he has talked about his unstandable interest in the Hugo boss brand(which he will pick up for a song)-PG will understand better than everyone, the value of a brand in retailing-essentiall regards | rainmaker |
