15/3/2021 09:29 | sorry alex4141, did not see that you had posted about Vertica! | purchaseatthetop
15/3/2021 09:28 | Amazon have bought into MCRO for the cloud storage/computing angle provided by Vertica. What is the chance of AWS simply buying MCRO, stripping out Vertica for itself, and leaving MCRO as a stand alone business. The main competitor for Vertica seems to be Snowflake which has a $61b valuation. Ever felt that MCRO is hiding its light under a mountain of bushels? | purchaseatthetop
14/3/2021 21:47 | hxxps://fintel.io/so looks like Renaissance Technologies has more than doubled their holding in Microfocus. It's not a huge position but it looks like they are as bullish as us! | jw330
14/3/2021 16:16 | Vertica arguably provides comparable or even superior performance to Wall Street favourite Snowflake, which is currently valued $62B. Long way for us to go to get similar valuations. | alex4141
14/3/2021 15:42 | Pretty impressive demonstration of AI and real time big data analytics capabilities of Micro’s Vertica platform in collaboration with the Jaguar racing team 🐆 Good to see Micro competing in this innovative space ))) | alex4141
14/3/2021 14:05 | stoxx67, There is another saying, 'right is right and wrong is wrong'. Since you posted on here that all markets were heading south and it was clear from the charts that we faced an imminent crash, all markets have actually made significant gains. Purchase was persuaded to cash in his tracker funds with such nonsense. I see you are now saying people of a certain age should be selling up ... You should stop telling people what to do is my advice. | rochdae
14/3/2021 12:44 | interesting to see how MCRO progresses this next week, still need to get through resistance again, MCRO is still cheap on fundamentals and the technical position remains positive. an interesting but easy play last week to "mind the gap" ... its an OLD adage ..... if you don't learn the lessons of history, or indeed lessons of the market, you are doomed to repeat the mistakes. do you have enough life credit left to recoup what you had if matters progress south , is the question those of a certain age should be asking... TA is not rocket science, though it may as well be for some !! not entirely sure the tech market, at this stage, again considering trend, is for widows, orphans and old timers, however, as they say..... roll the dice :) | stoxx67
14/3/2021 08:01 | rochdea....like the markets crashing point! BTW....I took £180k out of managed funds a couple of weeks ago as these are largely following the market and those are now arriving in my SIPP in the next few days so that I can put the money in specific companies. One of which is MCRO. Just hoping that we do not get the price jump before I can buy a tub full of shares. | purchaseatthetop
13/3/2021 13:24 | MCRO is not a bad fit for Amazon. Amazon have got a large share of the cloud hosting and are massive. MCRO have a huge amount of software compared to their market cap so they are short of growth and customers. I realise the deal doesn't have anything to do with the above but perhaps over time they will realise they can help each other more. I don't see how they can jointly move people over to the cloud without some team collaboration. | planit2
13/3/2021 07:06 | indeed SceptI | stoxx67
12/3/2021 16:16 | rochdae....agree 100%. Free cash flow. Three lovely words and mean value. The fact that there is also growth and future is the cherry on the cake. | purchaseatthetop
12/3/2021 15:37 | Some people buy the assets, others management, others the future: I just buy the cash. Roch | rochdae
12/3/2021 14:35 | for once the yanks are actually pushing up the sp!! | scepticalinvestor
12/3/2021 10:56 | Agreed.,, these small ups and downs are going to happen.Aiming for tenner by year end though.. | losses
12/3/2021 10:38 | warranty.....we seem to be trading in a range and it pops down to 470p occasionally. Nothing to worry about. I started buying at 218p (so actually caught the knife for the first time ever) so ups and downs around 470p are meaningless personally. Obviously for those in the red this differs. I like price drops. I can buy more shares. Makes no difference to the dividend or where we will be in 2 years. | purchaseatthetop
12/3/2021 10:18 | Sadly patt, it looks like the price drops coming today!! | warranty
12/3/2021 09:52 | sceptical....I agree that it is the AWS RNS that is providing the bulwark against price drift. We can expect a trading statement around 19th May 2021 for the 6 months results. That is only a tad over two months away. I am certainly going to loading up in time for that date. Maybe start a month before. I really do not see us moving materially upwards from now until we get closer to the 6 month results. That is why I am so delighted to have got the dividend with no price drop. I think that the 6 months results will show both material slowing of revenue fall and also 2 or 3% margin gain. Then we will rocket, | purchaseatthetop
12/3/2021 08:38 | Yep, you've gotta be right there. ;-) | dr knowledge
12/3/2021 08:36 | Drk that 286,000 volume will have been a VWAP worked order.I think the reg's state you have 24hrs after completion to report, so it probably leading up to it the divi rather than post PS Many technical analysts do not subscribe to the "gaps need to be filled" theory..me being one of them. Runway gaps , gapping through support or resistance etc. are useful indicators PPS Shorters must be about as confused as me at the moment with this price action (circa 10m to replace @ 2.7% in total (inc <0.49%)) | markbelluk
12/3/2021 08:33 | There is a gap at just under 600 so I can’t see it going above that during this current wave up! | gurunostradamus
12/3/2021 08:33 | markbelluk...."laugh | purchaseatthetop
12/3/2021 08:32 | I was surprised that the share price did not tank on ex divi day but held up well. The AWS partnership is the support here.Might see 450 again but in the absence of any dire news, can't see this below that. | scepticalinvestor
12/3/2021 08:24 | I have the stock now trading in an established upwards channel with resistance @ 518. Whether 514 or 18 (take your pick), I agree that there is very little resistance after that, all the way up to 770. RSI is currently not remotely hot, so plenty of scope for upwards movement. Still can't get my head around the fact that someone bought 286000 day after divi - crazy logic! ;-) | dr knowledge |
