02/4/2020 17:18 | Went to a supermarket today. 1 in 1 out. Queues outside and queues at till. I know that isn't an isolated thing. All convenience stores will make a fortune during this period as I won't be going back to a supermarket again unless I absolutely have to. | thepopeofchillitown
02/4/2020 13:53 | Getting ready for the next leg by the look of it.. | mr roper
01/4/2020 13:46 | having 50% of customers living within 400 metres of their stores is a distinct advantage for Mc Colls at this difficult time, and with the increased level of controls at supermarkets currently, makes top up / fill in shopping locally even more convenient. Significant double digit sales uplift here last week alongside some softer benefits too, such as a 50% reduction in waste / reductions which goes straight through to the bottom line, and even an up tick on home newspaper delivery which prior to has been in decline for many years. | cliff edge
01/4/2020 13:13 | Exactly why I am here - spotdog/davro. Slamdunk for management. | totalgeek69
01/4/2020 12:58 | 100% agree spotdog. The virus should be an absolute gift to the management, if they don’t screw this up the share price has significant upside... | davro
01/4/2020 12:51 | If MCLS can't make money now, then they're never going to: record low interest rates- shame they've just renegotiated terms cash grants, and business rate relief from government convenience stores should be seen as "safer" than supermarkets in terms of reduced disease transmission no price competition, supermarkets are dropping their special offers, and customers are not likely to be shopping around availability of workforce good, as plenty of other retail businesses have to close. £32m market cap, on a company with £1000m turnover. Small improvements in margin should make for large increases in profit. | spotdog40
01/4/2020 10:28 | Buying above the ask now. Could be ready for a tick up | mr roper
31/3/2020 17:04 | spiked at close (nice) | neilyb675
31/3/2020 16:33 | Well, that is a very decent day by all accounts. Onwards to 35-39p next | mr roper
31/3/2020 16:26 | Yup, would agree with that. My mcls is much busier of late | mr roper
31/3/2020 15:50 | MCLS must be in a real sweet spot, good read across from the supermarkets and with the pubs closing business must be booming at convenience stores. More value here than the supermarkets IMO | rimau1
31/3/2020 12:59 | Aldi/Lidl now account for 14.3% market share with Aldi's market share now being only 1.8% less then Morrisons. Supermarket Alcohol sales up 67% due to the closure of pubs and restaurants. | loganair
31/3/2020 11:31 | There's certainly that going through the tills. | spectoacc

29/3/2020 16:37 | thanks total | farrugia
29/3/2020 15:05 | My mcolls was way busier than normal yesterday | mr roper
28/3/2020 19:05 | I made a special trip to my local Mccolls for you Farrugia. Although to be honest it isn't the best example as it is next door to LIDL. They said they were pretty busy. I think they are getting some of the trade from LIDL customers that are fed up with queuing outside for 30 mins. There wasn't much control of customers except for a few signs saying to follow a certain path through the shop and respect peoples distance. At the tills there was tape on the ground to keep you queuing at a distance. | totalgeek69 |
