buywell. First chart is months out of date.
I hold MKS and see no connection to MARS.
Divergence between MARS and MAB is hard to explain. Divergence between MARS and JDW is easier to understand.
Non food retail inflation in the UK is over IMO. Pound is 8% stronger than last year and factory volumes are down leading to cheaper factory gate prices.

Are the bigger Retailers going to lead listed Pub Chains lower ?

If we now follow what has happened in the USA ref Target and Wallmart --- we could be looking at a 20% to 25% drop from today

Circa 10% inflation can do that

This share along with others I have traded in the past attracts a fair few people whom
I term leeches.

CPI PAY and MARS

If there is any interest to buy or sell and you disclose it two things happen

The spread widens

The parasites come inside your bid or your offer

Unless you are very lucky you are stuck at the behest of these mindless investors ?

A recent example being CPI as you will have noted at 19 20

Has gone lower now unfortunately but you get my gist


It is the kipper season no real buying interest no matter what the charts might tell you

The shares with the dividends on offer should not be trading down here but they are so if I see a 10% plus profit I will take it and use it to counterbalance those shares (CPI for example) i have lumbered myself with.

Had bought last Tranche at 29.95

In this market happy at 10 % in the absence of any sign of a dividend and in light of my misgivings over how Crooked House issue has been handled.

Still unsure about direction of stock market and inertia prevalent.
Lots of dividend payers abound and undervalued so happy to have the cash to pursue

I did expect a little move up on back of Lionesses performance

The fact that it hasn t happened so far gives me cause for concern

Will keep on hanging on in there but if this as much as moves into profit I will be off

Settling back for football now hoping at least for the right result in Australia

Little disappointed with one of our locals in Gloucester today. Apparently no longer a fully managed Marston pub so might not be accepting shareholder vouchers any longer. Early days so not definite. The other thing is there were no ales available, even bottled today plenty of different larger. The three ale pumps just had, in conditioning, on them

If sunshine sells beer how do pubs sell beer in winter? Debt is the problem for MARS, not lack of sun.

Last update: Like-for-like sales for the 42-week period were +10.7% vs FY2022.

Perhaps there was only sunshine and no rain in 2022?

I think we'll have to be realistic and expect the next TU to be a bit lacklustre. Sunshine sells beer and there's precious little of it about at the moment

I am flattered but a bit bewildered as to your assertion that I am following you about

Not my intent at all rest assured

It is pure happenstance that our paths cross as to all too often our views on certain shares are at complete variance until on of us is right.

Most of the time you are a pleasant enough cove so I ignore the brickbats thrown out on occasion real or imaginary

I have my views as do you you but

I never short a share (not financially astute enough) I just don t buy it

If on the other hand I deem a share worthy I invest and share my knowledge often at odds with the general populace.

I have the courage of my convictions and back it up with my cash.


I have been wrong but what you see is what you get

Anyway hope this sets you right

Live long and prosper but do keep cash in reserve in these trying times.
