Listening to Powell at the Fed.
He really means business this time.
No more Mr.Nice guy.
American shares are tanking today, the era of free money is over.

Paul Volker is considered be a folk hero in America because he tamed inflation in the 1970's.
He famously increased American interest rates by 3% one Sunday afternoon.
that was shock and awe.

I feel nervous about the basket case UK economy.
We are even worse yet inflation will kill us.
This autumn could be terrible for stocks, strikes, civil unrest and eventually job losses.

netcurtains, you are wrong lefties have gone too far with regards diversity and transgender it has backfired in the RAF who attempted to advertise for black and other groups before white candidates and it is in fact illegal what they have been doing.

It may not be long before MARKS have to change their mind on changing rooms if they lose customers.

ASDA sales slip:

It may not take long before ALDI overtake ASDA but thery are a few percentage points behind, but ALDI overtook Morrisons 9 months sooner than the market expected. I suspect it may take ALDI a couple of years but it is possible the cost of living crisis will encourage shoppers to shift loyalty.

They deserve to lose customers for this stupidity

This sparked calls for a boycott with #boycottMarksandSpencer trending on Twitter, many arguing this would make an unsafe space for women.

Consumers spent less over the past week in a sign that households are feeling the effects of rising prices and cutting back on non-essential purchases.

Spending on credit and debit cards fell by four percentage points in the week to August 18 compared to the previous week, according to data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Consumers cut back the most on “delayable” purchases, which are non-essential items that could be bought at a later date like clothes, shoes and furniture.

The ONS said that spending on this category was down by eight percentage points.

This indicated that people are putting off buying things they do not immediately need as the cost of living becomes more and more expensive.

UK retail sales unexpectedly rose in the year to August but retailers remained pessimistic, according to the latest Distributive Trades Survey from the Confederation of British Industry.

The CBI’s reported sales balance jumped to +37 from -4 in July, coming in well ahead of consensus expectations for a decline to -8.

Still, sentiment remained gloomy, with firms feeling the most pessimistic about the business situation over the next three months since the early phase of the pandemic in May 2020.

Nurseries tell kids to wear multi-layers to keep warm as nurseries may have to cut heating to save costs:

Looks like we are going back to war times when most houses could only heat one or two rooms in a house and that is what may happen people just heat the main living room and bedrooms stay cold but most people have got double glazing so it won't be as bad as some people think it's just they won't feel as comfortable.

I think the picture is a bit over the top myself you would wrap up like that outside not inside this is another example of the media being over dramatic.
