I assume surrey surfer's target price owes much to a vivid imagination, or perhaps it refers to a note written many years ago!!

I cannot see how Shares Magazine reach their target of 73p, although I'd be delighted if they get this one correct.
If MACF didn't have to make substantial contributions to the pension deficit and to pay down debt, then their eps could reach 6-7p and hence produce a share price similar to that given above. However, MACF gave a target of 7 years to get the deficit down to zero.
I know MACF is hoping to increase turnover to £200m but that is not going to happen overnight.
I used to subscribe to Shares Magazine! - they gave JJB as a no brainer about 6 years ago!

Macfarlane Group to target high street retailers Oct 5 2010 By Colin Calder
Retail packaging market worth more than £150m
Macfarlane Packaging is to expand its operations by launching a new division aimed at high street retailers.

Part of the Glasgow-based Stock Market listed Macfarlane Group the new arm will target both the s150 million UK market for high quality litho-printed boxes and the significant UK high street retail packaging market for rope handled carrier bags, gift boxes, ribbons and tissue paper.

Until now the business which is the UK's largest packaging distributor had focused on supplying transit packaging.

The aim of the new division is to offer retailers packaging which will help promote and protect their brands and products.

The move follows the recent acquisition of Allpoint Packaging whose existing customer base includes a number of well known high street brands.

Ivor Gray, commercial director, said: "We have been a major player in the UK packaging market for decades and our primary focus has always been on transit packaging helping to ensure that products reach their destination in good condition for sale.

"With our acquisition of Allpoint Packaging, and their expertise in sourcing high quality, good value presentational and retail packaging products we can now offer our existing and prospect customers a more extensive product offering.

"I am confident that our customers existing and new will see the benefits of this significant enhancement to our already extensive product and service proposition

Atkinson has said the same thing since 2004, yet no growth in earnings. Would not accept that it is a marginal business,

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Macfarlane Group PLC (MACF.LN), U.K.-based group of companies focused on packaging-related activities, said Tuesday that as anticipated in the interim results and in accordance with its normal trading cycle, the Group has recorded a stronger trading performance since June than in the first half of the year.

MAIN FACTS:

-Bank borrowings have reduced since June 30, and are expected to reduce further in the remainder of 2010, as a result of traditionally strong inflows from working capital in the final months of the year.

-Group remains committed to addressing the means by which the level of deficit in the final salary pension scheme and its volatility can be managed in future years and further actions to this effect are in progress.

-Board believes the results for 2010 remain broadly in line with its expectations.

The bid/offer spread hasn't changed although ADVFN is showing a retracement. Is it an attempt to generate some more stock?
