05/4/2024 09:41:04 | In fairness, there always is. Out of interest, what would happen to prompt you to buy into the markets? | uppompeii
05/4/2024 09:39:38 | I currently have a large percentage of my portfolio in cash. So much going on at the moment which could have severe market consequences. I'm happy to lose the yield for better pricing which is more than likely to occur in a year when about 60% of democracies go to the polls. | louis brandeis
05/4/2024 09:35:32 | Yes, looks like a tin hat day Skinny.
From your link:
"The market remains expensive, given that the S&P 500 is trading at a 33% premium to its long-term average, Stovall added."
Doesn't really provide you with a true picture. Most of that 33% premium will be made up by the performances of around the 10 largest market caps and 'fan boy' stocks: Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Amazon, Berkshire, Tesla etc..
What is also worth noting is that tracker fund performances will have had the benefit of this selective bull run and to some extent it is self-fulfilling: Trackers do well, clients and prospective clients see that, they buy more trackers which buy more of the so-called darlings and the cycle continues. Until it doesn't and then the whole snowball affect reverses.
This will bring more value to some good 'off the fanboy list' of stocks that are already showing value and are not expensive even though they are constituents of the 500. | louis brandeis
05/4/2024 09:31:12 | Yes, it's all great in retrospect, isn't it. We can all do that. | woodhawk

05/4/2024 07:07:24 | FTSE futures currently -90.
Possibly a day for one of these and some last minute tax year shopping? :- | skinny
04/4/2024 16:13:37 | It seems to me that the only ones finding some of these discussions 'ad nauseam' are the ones who neither have the wherewithal nor the desire to learn something new.
As long as they have found the high dividend payer and it gets paid into their account that is ALL they want to know - until it doesn't.
If I got paid £1,000 for each time I saw this ignorance on ADVFN I wouldn't need to involve myself with investing. There is nothing as certain as a closed mind. | louis brandeis
04/4/2024 15:16:13 | I don't know (can't see as the posts are moderated) what is not M&G related that gets moderated - but I have to say that if everyone drew a very demanding line in the sand - I would not be aware of M&G and their stonking dividend as I am sure I read about them on one of the other boards , Phoenix / Aviva / L&G or such.
Sharing pertinent info is what these boards are most useful for. | fenners66
04/4/2024 13:54:46 | A lot of "(Filtered)" suddenly appearing here... I wonder why? Another stupid sell-off to take advantage of. | woodhawk
04/4/2024 13:50:38 | Very unlikely. But 205p to 210p | action
04/4/2024 13:38:52 | Heard rumours of 180p this month..hope so!! | baldrick1
04/4/2024 12:55:30 | Sorry I meant 210p tomorrow???:) | baldrick1
04/4/2024 12:34:21 | It's definitely a good price. I'm looking to add until mid summer, then take the interim and stay long. These are great times! | rongetsrich
04/4/2024 12:16:32 | i'm hoping it sits here until monday. | adejuk
04/4/2024 12:04:39 | This 30 or 40 points drop seems to be a common opportunity over the years around this time to buy into and profit from. | luderitz
04/4/2024 11:58:15 | At least with Pierre you can have an intelligent conversation. A rare, and fast becoming extinct, opportunity on ADVFN. | louis brandeis
04/4/2024 11:58:15 | 200p tomorrow??? | baldrick1
04/4/2024 11:45:06 | OK, I'll post elsewhere on such issues if it upsets you so much.
I look forward to truly informative posts from those that remain here. I won't hold my breath. | louis brandeis
