#Woodhawk, I have been building my position here since 2021 and will be keeping these for a decade for income, I added this morning having looked back at the share price movements pre/post XD March/April 2023 and the interim then forecast a repeat which is exactly what it has done (so far)..

Anyone can be wise after an event has passed, but that is very different to forecasting, planning and waiting to buy having confidence in your research, it does not always pan out, but you have to take your wins..

IF it goes to 200 pence next week for new ISA day/week then excellent, add some more, a nice average holding share price for future dividends is what I am here for..

"Is this not value at £2.07 ?"

I have no idea whether the price offers value. It isn't an investment target of mine and so I haven't looked at the accounts, assets and future cashflows. I'm interested from what is going on with regards to M&G and UK real estate.

woodhawk - we all could have done it , not in hindsight , and the one person that said they were selling pre xd , proved it worked , and could have made more.

Its about identifying those stocks with a higher probability of buying better than the xd - this seems to be one.

For those that follow such things, the RSI is looking well oversold here - potential upside (obviously), but quite a wait to the next dividend if bought now.

Oh that is very easy. Value would prompt me. I'm a value investor. :)

In fairness, there always is. Out of interest, what would happen to prompt you to buy into the markets?

I currently have a large percentage of my portfolio in cash. So much going on at the moment which could have severe market consequences. I'm happy to lose the yield for better pricing which is more than likely to occur in a year when about 60% of democracies go to the polls.

Yes, looks like a tin hat day Skinny.

From your link:

"The market remains expensive, given that the S&P 500 is trading at a 33% premium to its long-term average, Stovall added."

Doesn't really provide you with a true picture. Most of that 33% premium will be made up by the performances of around the 10 largest market caps and 'fan boy' stocks: Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Amazon, Berkshire, Tesla etc..

What is also worth noting is that tracker fund performances will have had the benefit of this selective bull run and to some extent it is self-fulfilling: Trackers do well, clients and prospective clients see that, they buy more trackers which buy more of the so-called darlings and the cycle continues. Until it doesn't and then the whole snowball affect reverses.

This will bring more value to some good 'off the fanboy list' of stocks that are already showing value and are not expensive even though they are constituents of the 500.

High 238.80 pence
XD 234.80 pence
Dividend 13.2 pence
05.04.2024 buys at 207.9 pence
Drop of 26.9 pence (so far) post XD

So the trade was to clear or top slice 27th and buy back in again a week later at double the XD discount..

Added a few this morning.. :o)

It seems to me that the only ones finding some of these discussions 'ad nauseam' are the ones who neither have the wherewithal nor the desire to learn something new.

As long as they have found the high dividend payer and it gets paid into their account that is ALL they want to know - until it doesn't.

If I got paid £1,000 for each time I saw this ignorance on ADVFN I wouldn't need to involve myself with investing. There is nothing as certain as a closed mind.

I don't know (can't see as the posts are moderated) what is not M&G related that gets moderated - but I have to say that if everyone drew a very demanding line in the sand - I would not be aware of M&G and their stonking dividend as I am sure I read about them on one of the other boards , Phoenix / Aviva / L&G or such.

Sharing pertinent info is what these boards are most useful for.

It's definitely a good price. I'm looking to add until mid summer, then take the interim and stay long. These are great times!
