05/1/2019 10:36 | Yep the fool has on concept of history, the Yanks appended the whole of Mexican Texas north of the Rio! Andrés Manuel López Obrador will pay for the wall I'm sure if he can put it back to where it was pre-annexation in 1845, and argue about New Mexico and California later! LOL! Oh, and what about the 14 million acres of reservations, genocidaly seized then so generously leased back from Native Indians to extract oil, gas and gold! and build another around Indian Arizona (Vegas) to keep the Saint Trump's pistol packing, druggy & gambling mobsters away from the rest of the born again American law abiders. He'd do better to address the horrific homicide figures in his backyard! | gotnorolex

05/1/2019 09:56 | "I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I'll build them very inexpensively," Trump said. "I will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I'll have Mexico pay for that wall." Then towards the end of last year, he insisted that the wall would pay for itself: (If the Democrats won't pay, he'll make a TREMENDOUS business selling tickets to the most frequent users!) | gotnorolex
05/1/2019 09:19 | What would be a suitable analogy? The Titanic? From the DM: Last night it emerged that the PM is to take personal charge of no-deal planning, as the March 29 deadline for Britain’s exit from the EU approaches. Until now the cabinet committee charged with ensuring the UK is ready for Brexit has been chaired by Mrs May’s deputy David Lidington. But Downing Street sources said that from Monday a new committee known as EUXT (Preparedness) would focus on ensuring the UK is ready to leave on March 29, regardless of whether a deal has been approved or not. Sources last night insisted securing a deal remains Mrs May’s primary focus. unquote | polar fox
05/1/2019 08:54 | Below is so true...yes it is an illusionary tax not only for the poor but all those buying tickets and not winning anything... grahamite2 4 Jan '19 - 22:51 - 241551 of 241555 0 0 0 For years people have been saying the lottery is a tax on the poor and stupid, but is that altogether correct? What if it's the difference between a vanishingly small chance of a good life, and zero chance of a good life? | diku
04/1/2019 23:25 | Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah Yeah right on brother!! F@@king hypocrite!!!! That`s why That`s why I said ma, mama weer all Brexiteers now! I said ma, mama, weer all Brexiteers now! I said ma, mama, weer all Brexiteers now! | stonedyou
04/1/2019 23:13 | If you have the money/sense you don't need a lottery ticket and if you don't have the money/sense you need the money to buy you a warm drink. Having opportunity of a good life starts with common sense and the right values. Playing silly games for obscene payouts puts you at the mercy of the capitalist gods which will only end in life-long misery or you jumping off a bridge. It is about time society started acting a little more maturely. | minerve
04/1/2019 23:02 | True enough graham...in one way But the alternate view would say that the lottery only keeps the great and good in the position they aspire to. The odd lucky punter is at best a publicity stunt. | maxk

04/1/2019 22:28 | Brexiteers reasons to be cheerful!!!! 'We don't need Europe!' Remainer outlines BRILLIANT reason why he is NOW a Brexiteer A REMAINER turned Brexiteer has outlined why he has changed his mind on Brexit – insisting Britain is doing itself a “disservice&rd order to survive. The former Remainer said during the 2016 Brexit referendum he originally believed the next generation would suffer if Britain voted to leave the European Union. Speaking to Leavers of Britain, a protest group set to unite Brexiteers across the country, the Dorset resident said: “I have changed my mind now in that position in so far as when you start the process and you take stock of what you have as an entity in this country. And also around the people and the talent and the diverse communities that we actually have. “I think they are great assets to us and I think we do ourselves a huge disservice by actually believing that we need Europe to survive. “I genuinely now am more galvanised that we will do better on our own. “So, I have actually changed my tune and I am now more for Leave. The process has actually helped me crystallise my thoughts there, which is not what I thought I would come to that conclusion.” The Remainer turned Brexiteer insisted Britain should “push for a no deal Brexit” if Mrs May is unable to get “significant concessions” before the vote is put back to MPs on the week beginning the 14 January. | stonedyou
04/1/2019 22:26 | Description of train attacker. The offender is described as black, in his 20s or 30s, with a slim build and a beard, dressed all in black with white trainers. That's very strange !!! | mikemichael2
04/1/2019 20:27 | Lotto was 13 mil to 1 with 49 numbers. Now they increase the numbers to 59 making it even harder to win. On top of this they double the price of the ticket from 1 pound to 2 pounds.Thesame with euro lottery from 2 pounds to 2.50What's wrong with them.. something is not right!! | k38
04/1/2019 20:03 | We all had a lottery a couple of years ago .. we won Treeza May. | maxk
04/1/2019 19:12 | Talking of the lottery...now if the same couple who won the jackpot were to knock on the doors of these poorest areas asking for £15 prior to winning...how many would give them the money?... goldfinger16 4 Jan '19 - 13:33 - 241525 of 241542 0 2 0 I read recently that people in the poorest areas of the UK spend an average of £15 per week on the lottery including scratch cards that are sold in every shop and garage. | diku
04/1/2019 18:38 | The lottery must have helped keep a lot of local stores and post offices in business, and the payments to good causes are well administered. I'm ok with it. That's all from me. | poikka
04/1/2019 18:24 | "Mr Connolly is a businessman who once ran his own firm. He predicted he would not be able to sit around long before he had to get back to doing something. He said his expertise was in manufacturing and he hoped to create more jobs using part of their fortune." Wonder if Minerve read that, and that Mr. & Mrs. C are going to give most of the money to worthy causes, family and friends. Worthy winners indeed. | poikka
04/1/2019 18:12 | Hmmm, I am sure that the lottery money is put to good use. It is not the hardest thing in the world to run so it should be nationalised and the beeb simply told to show and promote it. As Min says, 115m is a bit sick, the system should focus on making millionaires not multi millionaires. A 20 year old winning a million will still need to work. | 1carus
04/1/2019 18:11 | Looks like Minerve has completely lost the plot - now he's posting poetry. So some folk win the lottery, and the win paid for by others, some of whom are too lazy to work harder and longer to attain wealth. Of course, some are unable to do just that. Good thing is that the money is generally recycled into the economy to provide jobs and income for others - and a spot more tax for the government to waste. | poikka
04/1/2019 17:57 | The version that I heard was that "the lottery was a tax on those who aren't any good at maths"... :-) That said, the occasioanl; flutter isn't going to do you any harm. @k38 4 Jan '19 - 13:25 - 241524 Too many rollovers.. i don't trust them. I think they 'control ' the results. It's software after all.... It's not software - the reason it's done with the drum full of balls is because it's genuinely random [1]. For the same reason there's no way of "controlling" the results to give a more even distribution of prizes, they get what they get, they're just subject to the laws of statistics. [1] I have a friend who, at the time, was a techie at an outfit that specialised in mathematical and statistical software. They were contracted by Camelot some months before the lottery "went live" to check that the machines they were going to use were random. They ran them 24 hours a day for months doing draw after draw after draw and analysing the results. At the end of tens of thousands of draws they could find no pattern whatsoever in the numbers drawn - the machines were generating random selections. It ain't "fixed"! | pawsche
04/1/2019 16:59 | Lottery --- use to be about 13 mil to 1 for a big win. Statistically more chance of having 2 numbers in the 6 consecutive than not. All combinations carry an equal chance, including last weeks numbers - which would be funny. The best way of increasing your chances of winning is to buy one ticket, from zero to 13mil to 1. But as generally stated --- poor mans tax. | 1carus |
