careful......"You cannot invade your own territory, and here lies the debate."

Ukraine was not Russian territory. It became independent in 1991. Russia signed the UN 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances 1994, with Russia, the US, UK, and Ukraine recognising this and guaranteeing Ukraine's Sovereignty and Security and "reaffirming their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations." Refer to my post 395200 yesterday.

Love the word 'illegal'

Putin considers it to be a region of Russia as it always was.
Part of the Russian Empire pre revolution, part of the USSR post revolution.

Lots of independent devolved powers, one Russian President even attached the Crimea to Ukraine in about 1990. About the status a boundary change in our terms.
The Russian President was Brezhnev, a Ukrainian himself, no doubt looking after his own.

For years, we all assumed Ukraine was part of Russia, a region of a vast Empire.
Indeed it was, but with its own traditions and culture.

Hence Putins term 'special operation' and not invasion.
We may laugh, but can say the British army 'invade' Northern Ireland at the time of the troubles, or are they occupying to keep laws and order?

You cannot invade your own territory, and here lies the debate.
When Zelenski announced his intention to join American led Nato, was that not a step too far.
Devoluted power and autonomy is one thing, buy if Mexico a democratically elected government, invited The Chinese Navy into the gulf of Mexico in exchange for massive inward investment, would America allow it?

A peace deal will be reached with a pledge from Ukraine that it will not join Nato, and give back control of Donbass and Crimea to Russia with certain trade agreements.

Russia will be 'taking back control'.

jordaggy.....correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Donbass region one of the area's of Ukraine that has been illegally invaded and occupied by Russia? You say Putin is regarded by many as a moderate and a genius? Strange one that given the ICC has issued a warrant for his arrest for war crimes.

America bomb people who cant bomb them back.
That is an historical fact.

They flattened Japan, most of Germany, Vietnam...that is what they do.

Get over it, Curtis E LeMay was a national hero, he wanted to use Nukes in Vietnam to 'bomb them back into the Stone Age'.
He was head of Strategic Air Command SAC.
As mad as a box of frogs, as nutty as fruit cake.

Lloyds Bank: banking group to move 10 million credit and debit cards to Visa - what that means for customers

The two firms have also teased the launch of new products for credit card customers

Lloyds Banking Group will transition approximately 10 million cards to Visa's network by 2026

Visa renewed and expanded its agreement with Lloyds, becoming its primary payments provider

Visa already services around 30 million Lloyds accounts

Customers with Mastercard-powered Lloyds cards do not need immediate replacements
The partnership could introduce new products enhancing payment experiences and money management
Approximately 10 million Lloyds Banking Group cards will migrate to Visa's network within the next two years, due to a fresh agreement secured between the two firms.

The companies announced that they had renewed and expanded an existing agreement for Visa to be the leading payments provider for Lloyds, which also includes brands Halifax, Bank of Scotland and MBNA.

Visa already provides payment cards for about 30 million Lloyds accounts - both for consumers and businesses - as part of a partnership first agreed 40 years ago. But many other Lloyds customers currently have debit and credit cards powered by Mastercard.

Visa and Mastercard are the UK’s biggest payments firms, accounting for 95% of transactions on UK cards.

Ahh yes Victoria Newland, Jordaggy. Without YouTube this stuff would never see the light of day.

Jonathan Marcus: The US says that it is working with all sides in the crisis to reach a peaceful solution, noting that "ultimately it is up to the Ukrainian people to decide their future". However this transcript suggests that the US has very clear ideas about what the outcome should be and is striving to achieve these goals. Russian spokesmen have insisted that the US is meddling in Ukraine's affairs - no more than Moscow, the cynic might say - but Washington clearly has its own game-plan. The clear purpose in leaking this conversation is to embarrass Washington and for audiences susceptible to Moscow's message to portray the US as interfering in Ukraine's domestic affairs.

Trump dropped the fewest bombs and started no wars, Obama dropped more bombs than any other US president. Doesn't really matter who wins the US election, AIPAC, the military industrial machine and the Zionist will see that the agenda continues...

If Trump wins election he could force Zelensky to negotiating table because Trump will want the War to end under his watch to take the credit...look the normal Politicians couldn't sort it for nearly 3 years but he has...in the process Trump will probably do a side deal with Putin...invite Putin for state visit to US or Trump goes to Russia...

GTG......"because he doesn't trust NATO and I don't blame him"

So why have most of the ex Soviet Bloc countries joined or applied to join NATO? Because they don't trust Putin. And I don't blame them.

Cos the Soviet blocks want protection for nothing???

Don't blame them either!

Can't trust either side tbh

Old cynic that I am

IMO Putin is waiting for the outcome of the US Presidential Election thinking if Trump wins he will pull the rug from under Zelenskyy's feet and withdraw US funding/support for Ukraine. That would totally change the dynamics and force Zelenskyy to the negotiating table where Putin will hold all the aces and dictate the terms of any agreement.
