Following the FED so early into our own domestic battle with inflation would be a mistake and a significant sign of weakness IMO, though with this lot in charge, nothing would surprise me!

I think that if the MPC do raise rates by +50bp today we might get an unfavourable market reaction here after the FED restricted their raise yesterday to +25bp. I think the MPC will follow the FED with +25bp.........all will soon be revealed.

Quite a day in NY. The DOW spent most of the day sliding about 500, then the FED added 25bps and, when Powell started to speak, there was an explosive rally of 750 in about an hour. Closed up just 6 pts.
This all took the FTSE over 7800 on IG and it's currently up about 40 from today's close.
If the MPC goes to 4% that should be taken reasonably calmly; anything else, it will be fun and games over here too.

All these strikes are a throw back to the Wilson/Callaghan years the lunatics have taken over the asylum & they've taken the Torys with them. Like last time it might take a couple of Labour terms to totally fk the whole job up. Braverman might be our next Tory PM in 10 yrs?
