Jay Powell will raise rates to 8%,if required, regardless of silly Biden.

Biden can do nothing. He is trapped. Congress will stop further spending.

This is all very good for the banks worldwide.

"A large majority of respondents to the Bank’s latest Market Participants Survey (MaPS) expected Bank Rate to be increased by 50 basis points at this MPC meeting, broadly consistent with market-implied pricing. The median MaPS respondent expected Bank Rate to reach a peak of 4¼% in March and to remain at that level throughout the rest of 2023, broadly unchanged since the previous survey. The market-implied path for Bank Rate rose to around 4½% by the middle of this year, down a little since the MPC’s previous meeting and further closing the gap with the median path in the MaPS."

Think next rise will be 0.25% or a U turn pause...all the recent rate hikes still to feed through real economy...

Vote the same as December - 7 for hike, 2 for unchanged, the two idiot women still more worried about triggering a recession than getting inflation down. They should be dumped.

This from wikipedia. I wasnt aware of this report. Maybe they should replace the "B" with "W".
"In September 2019, allegations were made of Bailey falling asleep during a meeting between campaigners acting on behalf of the British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) and the FCA and of him failing to take swift action to protect those affected by what would become one of the UK's biggest pension mis-selling scandals. A subsequent National Audit Office probe into the case concluded that members of the BSPS suffered significant financial losses because the FCA failed to take action on numerous reports of some FCA-authorised firms giving unsuitable transfer advice. This led to parliamentarians commenting that the FCA was asleep at the wheel.[7]

In March 2020, the Treasury Select Committee criticised the performance of the Financial Conduct Authority. The committee said it would monitor closely the culture, operations and transparency of the FCA. This followed damning criticisms of the watchdog by consumer and industry groups during Bailey’s tenure as its chief executive.[8]"

IMO Bailey cannot do any worse this time than Powell. In the half hour post-meeting media appearance Powell repeatedly said "this time it's different" - "I don't know" - "we'll see".

The man is in charge of world banking chrissakes!

scruff1 ,
why does the word " woke" appear in most of your posts ? You can not even say what the word means ! maybe it applies to anyone who has empathy and that is what is lacking in your character sport :)

inflation is going down naturally - Bailey will claim he made it happen by increasing the interest rate. Does he do anything else other than once a month meet to decide on the interest rate. Nice job for £580k per annum
