Ending Erasmus for the young Brits is really Brexit at its most malfeasant, backward, short-sighted and narrow-minded. What a bonfire of futures. Dreadful.

'inward looking, culturally impoverished and regressive' - yes, post Brexit Britain in a nutshell.

The concept at the base of the Erasmus project,is clearly something Bojo's sycophants are afraid of,namely it will broaden the look on life of young and intelligent students, who then become less recruitable for his world of English Insularity that ,plus/minus covertly, despises the rest of the world.

If they escape this way of thinking he loses his power on his island !

I think the long overdue liquidation of ERASMUS will have a detrimental effect on the proliferation of European managers in the Premiership. Klopp understudy to Kevin Keegan, Moriniho to Bobby Robson, etc etc. There will definitely be more success for home grown managers without all the Europeans coming over to do sports related courses at the tax payers expense.

Having been involved in study abroad schemes at universities, I know exactly what will happen when Eramus is replaced with £2,800 grants under Turing. Well off students will take the Turing as a contribution to their trips, whilst poorer students, already stretched by their loans, will stay at home. So back to the Grand Tour for the toffs.

Of course, none of the people in government or their donors will really be affected by this as it is not their offspring who will miss out on such experiences. For those who constantly talk of class warfare (from the left), please take note: this is an actual act of class war.

The whole Brexit project was inward looking and culturally impoverishing. Why is one surprised by the vandals‘ approach to Erasmus?

It is vitally important to the bigots who drove through Brexit to send the signal that experience of continental Europe is of little value. It feeds their sad insular view of life. These, I'm afraid, are the people running the UK. Does not bode well for a successful future.
