The surprise is everyone's surprise. Virtually every pundit and expert agreed at the outset that there wouldn't simply be one or two waves of infection but several. | patientcapital

28/10/2020 14:16 | Exactly Alphorn Royston needs to look closer to home when it comes to blame. Cameron's trip to the EU was disingenuous because Cameron already knew what the answer would be. They later sold it as an 'EU snub' and the fools fell for it. Our electorate are very easy to fool. You just need to lie and tell them what they want to hear. It then just comes down to what conscience you have. If you are used to lying, cheating, deceiving and not giving a toss about society you will do well as a current UK politician. If you have a conscience, care and are willing to tell the truth the public will not like you because - considering the dire consequences our country finds itself in - you will have to tell them something that they will not want to hear. Most of the electorate are not mature enough to stand up to problems and collective responsibilities. We have had our fair share out of the EU but our government always preferred to send EU concessions in the direction of The City leaving little manoeuvre for anything else. It is about time the ignorant morons wake up to this fact. | minerve 2

28/10/2020 13:38 | royston - your last paragraph could also say that the UK representatives were exceedingly poor negotiators and many, including the Cameron's of this world, had an over inflated opinion of themselves. Don't always blame others - that is much too easy. | alphorn
28/10/2020 13:29 | Minerve2. I voted Brexit to regain sovereignty and self rule after repeated snubs by the EU. Had the EU given David Cameron some support in January 2016 when he gingerly asked for just a few things to offer the British people, I would have most probably voted remain. I still believe strongly that we need them and they need us and whatever said we are all Europeans. The Cameron snub was them just more or less giving us two fingers and not in a Churchill manner. Myself and millions who weren't arch Brexiteers were astonished at the contempt the EU had for us, it was as though the UK was a nothing, a nobody, a nonentity and many people I knew who were on the fence became Brexit supporters. Germany could have insisted that Cameron got at least some of what was asked for but they didn't. Merkel and others now agree that the UK should have gotten more, but it is too late. That in itself is an admittance that they were intransigent and drunk on their own power, their way or the highway and the rest is history. I think that the EU had been given everything asked for by previous UK Prime Ministers John Major, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown and just thought that we would roll on our back and concede to them forever. I read your posts on here and agree with you on some things, but you and other stringent remainers should realise that the EU could have done a lot more to keep us in and they didn't. That said is proof that the EU are guilty of their own sins and are now reaping what they foolishly sowed. | royston6

28/10/2020 13:10 | By the way when they think it's a good time to give up that nonsense.. getting on their knees every time there is an event..It's time to stop this f#ing nonsense. If the police kill someone, white or black is because that person misbehave or is a criminal. Either way the police won't take their chances and been killed by an idiot and rightly so!! | k38 |
