22/10/2020 18:30 | Tricky small pop should have benefited - local know how - but IMO little - so just a waste of resources - sadly. Pragmatism - phps never in politics - always blemished by greed and lack of understanding. Absolute need to have a grasp - as the scum comment illustrates. 22/10/2020 18:15 | I've always had the opinion that there are a much higher proportion of civil servants per capita in Wales than other parts of the UK, not sure if that's correct. | utrickytrees | |
22/10/2020 18:07 | Wales has been part of England for 600 years. Devolution never made any sense except as part of a package for devolution to all the English regions. But the people of the North East gave that a big thumbs down so it did not proceed. The thing is, the people of this country are too sophisticated politically to go for that. They know that, whatever the theoretical advantages of devolution to the regions in terms of increased democracy, in practice it would just be a gigantic waste of money, an unnecessary extra layer of government. Devolution for Scotland is, of course, a very different issue. | ![]() grahamite2 |
