Watched ESPN yesterday. Taco bell were offering a drive through contactless service ultimate meal deal which comprised of a large burrito large taco & large enchilada so basically a family meal for $5 OR you could get a foot long subway with a side & drink $5, little wonder they're stacked!!

bba not spoke to anyone who would even consider going to our local village pubs with all the officious rules & regulations, throw in the overbearing jobsworth enforcer staff & I dont think many will consider it a very appealing prospect.I am looking forward to be able to call in to a pub on a bike ride but will choose it carefully, one with a large beer garden. I dont think 'could' is a good enough reason to hold back on relaxing guidelines. We have to attempt to get the economy moving again now.

maxk..Agree, food in the USA is no different than here in the UK or the EU, they do have chlorinated chicken and pumped up beef, but it say's on the packet or the Menu that is the case, just a case of being aware.

There is good food and bad food wherever you go. Americans are noted by their huge portions of food, a normal UK meal in a restaurant is about 50% of similar in the US where food is cheaper and the fast food market is second to none.

I have eaten in restaurants all over the EU and the USA and the Americans shovel food down their throats like it was the 'last supper', where as here and in Europe people would find that difficult, because food being more expensive, portions are smaller.

A couple of years ago I was Indianapolis for the Indy 500 and went to a downtown bar with some friends, I ordered a Club sandwich, when it came it was huge, about 3 times thicker than a UK or EU club, full with Turkey, Ham, Cheese, Lettuce, tomato, a mountain of coleslaw on the side and a ton of french fries for less than $10.... that is normal in the US, hence so many fatties.

Utt: Agreed, we have made some progress over here but a "Pubs are Open Lads" free for all could tip the stats once again.

There are excellent roadside restaurants in France and Germany.

France in the good old days: drive in to a Relais Routier, have a litre bottle of wine with your meal for two and then carry on with your journey.

Afternoon (just) Alp.

Basically, Hutton's one sided diatribe against American food. As anyone who has been there will tell you. It's fine for the most part, just like here.

If you want to chance your arm at a roadside shack, thats your problem wherever you go.

Ut - Was addressing the 'remainer' slight rather than the specific virus issue.

On the pandemic front maybe France will be the country worth watching for any pickup in infections.

Alps the risk has been mitigated, every health professional will concur. It's only right that the most vulnerable should be the most risk averse, let everyone else go about their business,

"greater understanding of risk"

Certainly not obvious from reading most of the posts on here.

Re: quarantine in Scotland, having postponed our annual munro week till next June, my wife and I were planning a holiday in Scotland once restrictions are lifted but no way if there is any risk of being quarantined once there. Will go elsewhere in England, where hopefully there will be decent beer on tap too.

One thing we can all thank the remainers for is a greater understanding of risk having had it force fed to us since 2016 lol.

Lockdown and social distancing could make our immune system weaker, says scientistPeople are not exposed to germs and so do not develop defences that could protect them against future pandemics, Oxford epidemiologist warnsDaily Telegraph... And perhaps more important for young developing children. At present we are being held hostage by the frightened vulnerable. Unacceptable. A suing time will come.
