09/3/2020 17:03 | It is now accepted the virus will spread in a "significant way" in the UK, a spokesman for the PM says No it certainly is not! It should be head in basket time! | minerve 2

09/3/2020 16:14 | "PurplePanther9 Mar '20 - 15:48 - 295791 of 295791 Well in the scheme of things they are testing hand over fist which is the fatality rate is so low in the U.K. with i think just 3 deaths from 319 confirmed cases - that’s just 1%" What does in the scheme of things even mean - compared to who? The fatality count/total infected cases count are both low because we are at the "case" "case" stage. Not Cluster, cluster, nor boom. It's early days for UK. We are at least a week or so behind Italy at least. "If they weren’t testing sufficient numbers the fatality rate would be nearer the 5% level we are seeing in the US" Again the deaths LAG by 2 weeks. So once again we are at the early stages of this problem in UK. Fortunately close to spring. "Last time I looked we had tested over 25,000 cases versus just about 6/7k cases tested in the US" US in an even worse position that us!!! "At the end of the day you can only test people who think they have the symptoms in the first place and that’s not a huge number" Rubbish. At the end of the day you can test anyone you want, and as many as you want. Not just those who think they have symptoms? Spreads asymptomatically as well fyi! And it's aerosolised. You can test anyone, if you want to. As Italy has been doing. Hence the high case count from the off. Ditto SKorea. They didn't just test people who thought they might have symptoms,or who did have symptoms. | crossing_the_rubicon
09/3/2020 16:13 | It's an ever changing story and due to the incubation period the people with symptoms are increasing by the day. If one week from now things are still pretty much as they are today, then I'll believe we're on top of it, however I don't think that will be the case sadly...... | ladeside

09/3/2020 15:39 | "PurplePanther9 Mar '20 - 15:22 - 295782 of 295788 Early days but encouraging numbers in virus in the U.K. - new cases only up 17% today versus 31% yesterday" If they aren't testing hand over fist then obviously they will be missing many cases and the count will come down! Who knows, we may be lucky. There are apparently two strains - and "S" mild, and an "L" really bad | crossing_the_rubicon
09/3/2020 15:35 | Minnie..Re: Capita They will bo on Panorama tonight. | jacko07
09/3/2020 15:33 | Coronavirus or no Coronavirus, the markets were due a correction. In reality I'd say we've been getting off pretty lightly once the reality of the Economic shutdown in China filters through. Apart from this we'll soon be seeing multiple failures in the Global Hospitality / Tourism sector and from a UK perspective the demise of flybe will also seriously impact the regions. I've not even mentioned Italy, Oil, or the ever changing and ever worsening story that is currently unfolding worldwide....... | ladeside
09/3/2020 15:33 | That would be referred to as a 'Chapter 33'. Nah! That'll be....Chapter 11 to the power of 3 | gotnorolex
09/3/2020 15:27 | Fifty years ago I recall global markets tanking in response to high oil prices | kkclimber56
09/3/2020 15:23 | He is not in control of the market neither of the virus, unless we talk of conspiracy.. China - Iran - Italy (europe).. "enemies " of US.Lol... | k38 |
