"Be greedy when others are fearful" - but folks have been fearful for a month, and greed hasn't paid off. Maybe it will, but a bell won't ring to signal it.

Not only will the madness pass but Banks should recover first and well in my opinion, after all they are the vehicles for supporting other businesses with additional loans etc!

So we have had the Monday crash.
Crashes often happen on a Monday.
this one was on its way, no one should be surprised.

What happens next?

I think the Russians and the Saudi's are pumping and discounting to kill off usa shale oil producers, not each other.
this troubles US banks as well.

Trump has been bankrupt more than once, his over playing his hand is leading to World bankruptcy.

Layla Moran announced her intention to run for the leadership of the Liberal Democrats on Sunday, while admitting that "nine out of ten" people don't know what the party stands for.

The MP for Oxford West and Abingdon conceded that the party lost relevance during the general election and said voters felt its revoke policy was “a big mistake.”

Ms Moran said she had travelled the country since the Dec 12 election - which saw the party drop from 12 to 11 seats - asking voters what they think the Lib Dems stand for.

She said: “That’s the bit that’s really worrying because they then say, nine times out of ten, we don’t know.

“The key question we have to answer now is what are we for?”

Anyone who wants or needs testing in the U.K. so far is getting tested"

You have evidence of that?
Don't beleive that for a minute.

"and the fatality rate tells you everything - just three deaths from 278 cases with clusters being closed down everywhere"

This is just the beginning....it follows the same form everywhere.
case,case,cluster,cluster,boom.

What happens when the NHS is overrun? It cant cope with a normal winter but a mass outbreak of Covid-19 where 1 in 5 infected need hospital treatment!
in that instance fatality rate rises to 18% if people dont get the hospital beds/oxygen et all they need.

"Sure things will get worse in the short term but I suspect this outbreak will peak by Easter"

Tend to agree. But it will return in the Fall/Winter even worse.

"Important thing to understand is that the fatality rate tells you the how effective the testing process which is very good in the U.K"

Nope it doesn't tell you that at all. All it tells you is that out of the known cases (many wont get tested but will spread this asymptomatically) the current fatality rates are low.

All is dependent on fast testing/identifying infected(tough as many asymptomatic and might test negative, negative, then 2 weeks later positive!)and swift Quarantining of communities infected

Key is ensuring hospitalisation facilities exist when needed.

Surprised you're optimistic at the NHS's ability to cope given it nearly collapses every Winter just for the common cold.

"Reduce transmission by two thirds and this virus is under control. And that’s only going to be possible with an efficient testing process"

How do you reduce transmission when it is passed asymptomatically in the first instance and test results dont always give the correct answer?????
