25/11/2019 17:37 | I think BJ will get his majority. Mainly because there is no credible opposition and people are sick to death of it all and the uncertainty that goes with it. My mate who is a remainer was considering voting JS but after her performance on Friday, he is going BJ and he can't stand him. JC is a non starter. Says it all really. | m5
25/11/2019 16:39 | If the WASPI women get their pension back, then in these days of gender equality, can’t all men declare themselves as identifying as Female and also claim an early pension. What happens to the binary or non gender specific? ...asking for a friend. I bet my pink fluffy slippers they get the pension they were born with. | guss
25/11/2019 16:31 | Boris Johnson’s appearance at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair had been kept under wraps, as most campaign visits are. But if the farming community here was either surprised, delighted or appalled to see the prime minister they didn’t show it. There were no boos or cheers from spectators as Mr Johnson walked into the judging arena to pat some prize-hopeful heifers. Instead, there seemed to be a polite indifference from the voters Mr Johnson was here to court in the constituency of Brecon and Radnorshire, a huge and beautiful rural seat the Liberal Democrats took from the Conservatives in a by-election last summer. It’s one of several marginal seats in Wales the Tories are targeting. Mr Johnson trimmed some sheep and posed with some cattle, but his campaigning style feels more restrained than his mayoral zip-wire days. The buffoonery has been buttoned up. He’s leading a party that appears to be ahead in the opinion polls and Tory strategists are desperate to avoid a repeat of Theresa May’s calamitous 2017 campaign. The new Tory manifesto is certainly risk-averse in comparison. As for voters? At the farming show there was little sense of election excitement. “I don’t think this election was necessary,” said one man. “They should have pulled together and sorted it out.” Another told me many people felt downhearted and more concerned with Christmas than competing political promises. “A lot of people who’ve been loyal to one party or the other are saying they don’t know,” one woman said. | bbalanjones
25/11/2019 16:26 | BBC accepts 'mistake' over Johnson answer in news clip The BBC has said editing footage of Boris Johnson for a news bulletin was "a mistake on our part". He appeared on the Question Time: Leaders Special on Friday evening and the audience laughed when he was asked how important it is for people in power to tell the truth. But the laughter and subsequent applause was absent from a cut-down version of the exchange on a lunchtime news bulletin the following day. The BBC said in a statement on Monday afternoon the clip was "shortened for timing reasons" and while "there was absolutely no intention to mislead, we accept this was a mistake on our part, as it didn't reflect the full reaction to Boris Johnson's answer". "We did not alter the soundtrack or image in any way apart from this edit, contrary to some claims on social media." | bbalanjones
25/11/2019 16:25 | I saw the Rob Delaney campaign video ---- emotional propaganda tripe. It is a real shame his kid actually died. The NHS is a great system, he was correct. It is a different model from the US system which is effectively for the haves and not for the have nots -- but if you are one of the "haves" it would be hard to say the level of care is less than that of the NHS, probably more like bupa --- no waiting etc. But once he got your sympathy vote he then went off with a little too much rhetoric for my liking which was particularly sad based on the fact that his kid actually died. Basically Trump is going to privatise the nhs. oh! well. Just a bit crass for my liking. | 1carus
25/11/2019 16:23 | Good thinking Senor, UK domestics have pulled back a fair bit from their lows, I stick with half a dozen including LLOY, TW. TSCO, & ITV, which I am fairly sure after recent advances will reach new levels if the Tories win. I don't want to think about a Corbyn win, he makes Blair & Brown look far right, the nearest I can compare him to is Michael Foot, who was slightly less Marxist than Corbyn. | slater5
25/11/2019 16:21 | How do the Tories fare in Wales? The prime minister is now answering some questions from the media after his speech - but this is how the land currently lies for his party in Wales. At the last election in 2017, the Conservatives won eight seats, although they were down to six MPs when this election was announced That's because Chris Davies was unseated by a petition following his conviction for a false expenses claim, while Guto Bebb was part of the group of 21 Tory MPs suspended by the party for rebelling over their Brexit plans The Conservative vote share at the last election was 33.6% - up 6.4% from 2015 but still well behind Labour’s 48.9% Meanwhile, Plaid Cymru, the Liberal Democrats and the Greens have agreed a pro-EU electoral pact in 11 of the 40 seats in Wales. Candidates will stand aside for each other in those constituencies to increase the chances of a Remain-supporting MP being elected. | bbalanjones

25/11/2019 16:08 | An observation/opinion from Spain :-) All the companies Corbyn wants to nationalise are off-shoring to protect shareholders, he will still try to nationalise but will pay 3-4 times more than he planned loading more debt on the balance sheet. The same companies could move their tax base if he continues his hostile nationalisation plans...... No changes to tax rates, however it is expected all tax reliefs on investment income, ISA allowances, Pension tax relief, including higher rate relief and already announced married persons allowance removed in first budget. Corporation tax raised, more companies will move tax base to Luxemburg..... causes lower overall corp tax receipts. Corybn want Brexit, the only Brexit deal he is interested in is to support his state ownership programe, He would be happy to sacrifice money and morals to achieve this. Be very scared IMO, Brexit is a drop in the ocean to what Corbyn has in mind. On a brighter note, looks like he Has about 25:1 Chance of a majority, A Tory victory Would strengthen the Pound and once Brexit deal is agreed we will see a 10% plus rise in GBP based stocks, 20% in UK Finance sector and speculative 50-100% rise in other smaller caps if you choose well. I left most of my UK investments in 2016 and moved into globals, but I am now buying back into the UK.... hoping i get it right Good luck all, btw, I'm buying LLOY | senor_sensible
