I personally, obviously, still want to Remain. But if we are going to get on and truly bring the country together then a compromise is needed. Of course it will not be pretty to either side. But that is the situation the referendum has put us in.

So, if we are to agree a deal, let us do it properly, in good time, not under duress, where questions can be asked and answered fully.

Doing it the Boris way is no decent person's way of doing things.

I'd be happy to go along with Letwin and Gaulk if necessary.

g2You are right, they have no respect for themselves or democracy. I am sure Boris will find a way out of this trap Brussels create for us to protect democracy and freedom for us all.

Don't bank on dignity from Brussels, k38!

No, the ball is very much in Boris and Cummings's court.

They must ignore the Surrender Act.

If there is any dignity left in Brussels they now come out and say,

"this is it, take it or leave it deal. No more extension "

Remainers have dug a deep deep hole for themselves. They'll be as popular as the plague with neutrals. Electorate will remember at the GE.

We are now in a general election period so if, a referendum agreed by the opposition the government must ask for 12 month extension...FORGET IT.... is not going to happen, lol

I feel the EU is at the end of it's line, it is to costly to the whole to keep placating the uk. The remainers have overplayed it.

I suspect the remain mps will spin this out as long as possible to protect their income and a last push to top up their pensions. This is the only deal. The only other thing I can see changing is some weasle words from the eu to help Boris placate the dup, but even that is a stretch and would have to be done without going back to the 27 so it would still have to be within the 'spirit' of the existing text. The EU will stick to this deal or no deal. That may or may not force either a referendum or a GE. I suspect a GE.

DUP play a dangerous game with their vote. For the sake of a veto with their action maybe they achieve the opposite. No Brexit at all.We have a deal so no need for remainers Ben act anymore. All they have to do is to vote yes.

Max, we've known who the rogues are for some time. But a reminder:

Out of the 21 expelled Tories, 8 backed the amendment.
As well as Amber Rudd and Nick Boles, a total of 10 former Tories supported the amendment.
The rebels included:
Guto Bebb
Ken Clarke
David Gauke
Justine Greening
Dominic Grieve
Philip Hammond
Oliver Letwin
Antionette Sandbach
