Poik,

Political Declaration is for a CETA ++ FTA vs traitor May's CU.
So that's an upside for a start....

But what's happening fishing and defence side?

We want control over our waters, and our Armed Forces out of EU jurisdiction.

Future trade deals

The EU and the UK will aim for a zero-tariff deal with unlimited quotas.

The entire UK, including Northern Ireland, will be free to sign trade deals.

The line in the political declaration that “the United Kingdom will consider aligning with union rules in relevant areas” in any future trade talks has been ditched.

One source said the removal of this albeit vague promise of being aligned to the EU in future has been the key to unlocking the support of the European Research Group.

"One other issue is worth highlighting - promises by the UK to stick close to the EU's regulatory system after Brexit have been removed from the legally binding withdrawal agreement text.

They still appear in broad form in the political declaration on future relations - but the EU is well aware that Mr Johnson is looking for a looser economic relationship with the EU than his predecessor was.

That may well cause problems in the future, as several EU countries are concerned that the UK - a major economy on their doorstep - could seek to gain a competitive advantage by undercutting the EU's system of regulation.

The revised text of the political declaration says the aim is to complete a free trade agreement between the EU and the UK in the future.

A high-level meeting will be convened in June 2020 to assess progress towards such a deal, before the end of the post-Brexit transition period.

During trade negotiations, the UK will be treated as a potential competitor as well as a partner.

In that sense - as has been said before - even if this deal passes in the next few weeks (still a big if) it will not "get Brexit done".

Much of the hard work, including negotiating that future trade deal, is still to come, and it will last for many years."

I don't hear JC or Jo Swinson comparing letter by letter the two deals as thesame one. They know they have no case. The more you listen to BBC or sky the more they will confuse you.. it's their job to do so

What stay from TMs deal are all the good parts, for example, British nationals living in the European union their rights are protected thesame for European people living in this country. So it's stupid from the media to claim this is TMs deal.

According to C4 News the EU conceded on two very small points with Boris. Perhaps they are patting him on the back to give the impression his capitulation wasn't a capitulation.

Ace, yours is the most puzzling post ever. You think it's strange that brexiteers are applauding the deal to errrrm brexit.

Have you been in a coma for the last three years?

I saw the bloke who won the million premium bond this month. He seemed to be quite happy, I just couldn't understand it.

All serious commentators/analysts are agreed this deal is essentially the same as that presented to and rejected by the UK Parliament three times. It has some minor tinkering around the edges which the politicians (Euro plus Boris and his mates) are slapping each other on the back for. IMO the DUP are right even if I think they should not have been given the weight they were by the ERG and others here.

"Jean-Claude Juncker finds a way around the Benn Act"

It's not actually his remit to reject or accept an extension but we will continue to ignore reality to please the Brexiters.

"It would imply customs and regulatory controls between Britain and Northern Ireland, and therefore a border down the Irish Sea... it would amount to a change in Northern Ireland's constitutional status without its people's consent - a total breach of the peace settlement... The whole thing is a constitutional abomination". Boris Johnson, 17/9/18. Stop this nonsense now! #StopBrexit
