06/12/2018 19:43 | Maybe we shall have to accept the upcoming financial setbacks. Real austerity could be on the way. That means unemployment, falling house prices, failing jobs. We have had a great run, and in USA but it was built on debt. Free world trade is ending. This will happen with or without Brexit. Capitalism will give way to populism or socialism. | ![]() careful
06/12/2018 19:40 | This Brexit debacle, unless it is satisfactorily sorted out in the next few weeks, makes it almost certain, imho, that Lloyds will give a huge sum to the daytraders again by an entirely predictable buy back scheme. The beneficiaries? – day traders, and no doubt the board who will have bonuses attached to earnings per share increases, rather than the company owners (shareholders) through extra dividends. I’m of the opinion that last year’s buyback made no lasting difference to the shareprice, but a raised dividend would have done. Perhaps its time for a mass protest at the AGM, I’ll just go and check my yellow vest! | ![]() muckshifter
06/12/2018 19:04 | stewart - yields are looking attractive (eg Aviva) - some were before the 2008 crash too. I will wait until the future is clearer. Hunting the bottom or top in markets I shall leave to someone else. | ![]() alphorn
06/12/2018 18:59 | Alporn...indeed international stocks catching up with domestics re. being trashed. Lloyds down over 20% since recent peak and the FTSE 100 15%. But indicies smooth out the outliers of individual stock tops, Lloyds is pretty much on a par with most stocks now. | ![]() stewart64
06/12/2018 18:59 | Minerve /LADESIDE: glad my post re: J P Morgan and Goldman Sachs amused you. However instead of laughing at me safe in the knowledge that you are both of superior intellect, may I humbly suggest you do a bit of research into them. You won't have to look very far, donations made by JPM to leftists, GS involvement in helping Greece to mask its true debt to circumvent EU rules. Your starters for ten. If this fails to stimulate your superior intellects try looking at BBC, Gavyn Davies, GS, gold sales, Gordon Brown, Sue, Labour party, bigoted woman and see if you can find any connections. When you've done that please report back and I might give you a gold star, bet you got lots of those at school. | ![]() cheshire pete
06/12/2018 18:47 | g - not a serious comment btw. I think as we stand today nobody has a clue what the future holds. The US/China situation may overtake the UK domestic issues. | ![]() alphorn
06/12/2018 18:44 | Alphorn, that was a very misleading post. I did not say that Goldman were lefties. As to valuable nuggets - historic film of our then Prime Minister, Mr Cameron, stating absolutely clearly that there would NOT be a second referendum, that there would NOT be a renegotiation, and that if we voted to leave THEN WE WOULD LEAVE, is valuable from whatever source it may come. | ![]() grahamite2
06/12/2018 18:16 | I bet Tim Cook isn't planning to spend Xmas in China! Not sure why Canada was so quick jumping to Trump 's request. | ![]() cm44
06/12/2018 18:11 | On a serious note Trump must be a lunatic to arrest the daughter of the Huawei boss who is also the CFO. This could get very serious. | ![]() alphorn

06/12/2018 17:51 | Why rush to sell. Seems a great buying time. Cheapish. Harvest later. My thoughts only. Forthose with legacy of lloyds.Well you can blame Brexit for stuff stuff that happened ten years ago if it makrs you feel better. Better to start again. Brexit or not will not help legacy lloyds. That was then. This is now. | ![]() xxxxxy

06/12/2018 17:16 | A difficult time for investors. capitulation has not happened yet, despite the FTSE100 being about 15% from its peak. If we all rush to the exit at the same time we shall have a crash on our hands again. 2203...2009...2018? | ![]() careful
06/12/2018 16:51 | So the trading low was 54.35 - it just managed to stay above the important 54.29. As I posted earlier, 54.08 is the final level of technical support. All the risk is to the downside. | ![]() polar fox
