small pop should have benefited - local know how - but IMO little - so just a waste of resources - sadly.
Pragmatism - phps never in politics - always blemished by greed and lack of understanding. Absolute need to have a grasp - as the scum comment illustrates.
Lost for ever then so is the management of the HOC.

I've always had the opinion that there are a much higher proportion of civil servants per capita in Wales than other parts of the UK, not sure if that's correct.

Wales has been part of England for 600 years. Devolution never made any sense except as part of a package for devolution to all the English regions. But the people of the North East gave that a big thumbs down so it did not proceed.

The thing is, the people of this country are too sophisticated politically to go for that. They know that, whatever the theoretical advantages of devolution to the regions in terms of increased democracy, in practice it would just be a gigantic waste of money, an unnecessary extra layer of government.

Devolution for Scotland is, of course, a very different issue.

JL5, you'll get the hang of it meowd, surely it's better to have a hand in your own affairs than having one of Boris's dodgy mates making all the decisions as secretary of state for Wales. Surely Wales isnt devoid of all talent is it? You ought to put yourself forward as first minister youd certainly have more courage in your convictions than that wet lettuce Drakeford. OR move to Ashboourne near me that's a bit like Wales.

Phps the blame should be laid at the door of the B Liar for all that has gone wrong - no education no health service - gave all away to the EU - and of course the war - he still lies.
Is that the role of a former PM to just do lies.

devolution in wales is a total disaster.
Wasted more than £100m on a S wales relief road - only for the project to be cancelled, Nationalised Cardiff Airport - £50+ m - but next to no revenue - now going to nationalise the rail services.
Is Drakeford going to increase the alcohol tax to pay for this - we pay c10% additional tax just like Scots do?

Devolution was not a good idea. Perfectly exemplified by the current difficulties over the handling of the pandemic. Blair had no need to meddle with centuries old constitutional arrangements which, by and large, worked well.
