The Rotten Heart of Europe

by Bernard Connolly

This book may be a little bit historical, but the lessons it has for anyone

interested in what "Europe" is are fascinating and well worth it. It may help if

you understand "monetarism" and the jargon, but the text is accessible even if you

don't. Coming to it after the UK's vote to leave the EU, I'm very glad we did,

since all the same hidden agendas and quite different perceptions of what the EU

is about are still entrenched - and they are not loaded in favour of the UK! He

skims past the scams and corruption endemic in the mindsets and politicking of

various European governments, and which have cost taxpayers in other countries

dear, but makes sufficient reference to underline the motivations of those

involved in the pre-Euro days when news headlines regularly reported the barely

understood problems with "the snake" (Exchange Rate Mechanism).. Seen from the

inside, the whole thing was appalling, and it isn't surprising Connolly was booted

out of the Commission!

Connolly also reveals the plotting at the very top of the Tory party which helped

get rid of Margaret Thatcher, and a shameful tale it is. Undoubtedly we still have

senior politicians (in any party) whose adherence to the aim of establishing a

wholly undemocratic government of Europe, answerable to no-one, lurks carefully

concealed behind in their public utterances, and we should be wary.

Wow KB. That’s a lot. Sorry to hear that but I’m sure it will come good. What’s your average?
I’m sat on heavy losses in BP and RDSB but hopefully they’ll be back up soon too. I only started buying Lloyds (and the oilers) in July at 30p. Started quite big so it took a lot of averaging down to get my average to 28.10p. I see far more upside potential so I’m not gonna take this chance to cut and run but hold and see how it goes. Good luck all.

John Redwood@johnredwood1hWhy doesn't the NHS use the Nightingale hospitals for CV 19 and keep more of the other hospitals virus free for all the other treatments people need?

Should PHE have been allowed to use such an old version of Excel without a comment from their auditors for the last 15 years?
No but they did.
Are/were PHE supposed to be the guardians of our- Yes - 0ur Health service - yes - but how they bleated when caught short -
PHE were delighted to disclosed deaths - but as u say MM2 - pretty silent nowadays - all about the infected - 8 of 10 have no symptoms.
Which begs the question - is this test reliable????

I'm fed up with the same old doom and gloom on the news, lists of new infections and worrying comments on the hospital cases. What about the thousands that have recovered? we don't seem to see them in the news!! and all those thousands of students that are having it and have it in the campus? no stories from them how they are AFTER having the virus. What about all those older factory workers that hit the headlines when there was an outbreak, how are they now??

Why don't we hear anything about getting it again? Can you get it again? surely they are checking that?

What about China? oh hang on they are doing ok, better not mention that.

Why, well that might be too good a news story

Politicians are trained to not answer the question, ref. Dr. Kissinger's opening comment to a rat pack "which of you have the questions to my answers".

I wish you would not post long articles written by others.
We all have access to volumes of well written articles for and against, but these threads should be our comments.

Do not encourage these windbags, you even post Redwoods comments.
