EU Member States have lost at multiple international arbitrations regarding the treatment of investors into projects in Europe. The EU has blocked the enforcement of the arbitration awards because it believes that EU law overrides international law, despite the question of jurisdiction being addressed in detail in each arbitration, including contributions by the EC itself. It seems the EU believes in international law when it works in favour of the EU.
