inflation rising at the moment is more a case of the supermarkets price gauging during the covid restrictions.

If the average age of economists is 19 that might account for the 'surprise' element of the reports.

I find it amusing that the recent jump in inflation is reported as a 'surprise' . Then it's attributed to sales discounts not happening.EVERY business is looking to increase prices to recover some costs .

Fiscal ruin beckons, but our ship of fools does not even seem to know it

Ministers are struggling to reignite the sense of proportion so necessary in getting back to normality

The about-turn on exam results always looked inevitable, but it is also symptomatic of a Government that has little idea of what it is doing

In Plato’s The Republic, Socrates describes a ship on which the sailors mutiny and try to pilot the vessel with no knowledge of “the year and seasons and sky and stars and winds, and whatever else belongs to his [a pilot’s] art”. Success on this “Ship of Fools” is defined not by having the skills to navigate the vessel but only by the ability to persuade others that such skills aren’t actually necessary and that the job can be done regardless....

============ UK moves the Covid-19 goalposts on DEATHS ================

The following link explains just how much the DEATH Stats would be if the new definition of death by Covid-19 means it MUST be within 28 days of testing positive.

It should be remembered that many patients that are treated on mechanical ventilators in ICU's are spending more than 28 days in hospital.

buywell asks :

What is written as the cause of death on their death certificates ???

If it is cardiac failure foir example --- then it is IMO a fudge --- pure and simple

If it is Sepsis or Septic Shock --- then buywell agrees that such conditions have been caused by Covid-19 --- and should be noted on the death certificate along with

' following ICU treatment by mechanical ventilation treatment for Covid -19 '

Along with the number of days after testing positive for Covid-19

buywell is also concerned regarding this statement

'' hospital admissions to acute inpatient admissions occurring between 14 days before and 28 days after the first encounter when a patient was flagged for exposure to SARS-CoV-2, was designated as a “person under investigation” for covid-19, or had confirmed covid-19. ''

As it means such a person dying under the new definition of 28 days of testing positive might have been in the ICU for just one day ie day 29 after testing positive. A Length of Stay (LoS) in ICU of one day ---- and then if they died the day after what would the death certificate show ???

I can't argue with that. I invested for the dividend just a few weeks before it was cut. Not very good timing.

And education goes into the pits lane as all these students want to waste tens of thousands of pounds to get a degree that has no practical usefulness in the majority of cases.
Why do they want to?????????????????
survival rate 10% - I want to be a brain surgeon - pass ur exams in medicine.
Education a total disaster - it is what happens when quangos are involved.
