19/4/2020 16:19 | xxxxxy The only reason for lockdown IMO is that the NHS didn't want a sudden rush of thousands all at once to flood the hospitals. As you rightly say after lockdown there will still be thousands who will catch the virus but there will be more beds available by then. The herd system would have had the NHS overloaded too quickly. | maxidi
19/4/2020 16:15 | Boris missed 5 Cobra meetings, not one or two, five! | minerve 2

19/4/2020 16:00 | D Mitchell 18 Apr 2020 3:07PM@D WalkerPeople didn't want herd immunity, they didn't like the idea of being classed as cattle. But, at the end of the day immunity in the community (herd immunity) must happen for at least 60=80% of people before it gets to a point there are only a few hosts for the virus to infect. People are under the illusion they won't come out of Lock down until its SAFE! But, there is NO Safe, there is NO cure! | xxxxxy

19/4/2020 15:30 | Patient Capital, you cannot compare Lidl/Aldi with Waitrose, I have been to the lot, and none of them sell as good a quality as Waitrose, and even they are not as good as our local Farm Shops. No 'snob' factor from me either, i'm as rough as they come, but our family prefer waitrose anyday. | mikemichael2
19/4/2020 15:08 | Patient Capital..... LOL We used Lidl/Aldi when we lived in France mainly because it was closer to our house but we found the quality of the foodstuff was not brilliant. We tried them on our return to the UK. and not a patch on Uk supermarkets. IMHO. Also we don't like to support the German business'. We try to support UK business when we can, not always easy I know. I expect I will have some nasty, childish remark from Alphorn because of my German statement! | maxidi

19/4/2020 14:35 | Funnily enough we discovered Lidl in Portugal in the 1980s. We had some properties west of Lagos and the German firms were getting established there. So we knew the firm when it started operating here and have used it while people who ought to know better were shunning it. Years ago one would see sniffy people parking a distance from Lidl and emerging from there carrying their Waitrose bags full of a Lidl shopping. We have been keeping ourselves to ourselves for nearly six weeks now so online it is. | patientcapital |
