Covid-19 outbreak is bad timing for the banks, given they would still be recovering from PPI claims, where the deadline was only last August..

I suspect there's still claims going through FOS...

It looks increasing likely we're heading for a global recession and I believe countries will need a bailout..

The economic fallout is likely to be very severe and I wouldn't be surprised to see the worst recession since the great Depression...
Companies going to the wall, transport severely impacted, supply chains badly impacted, mortgages impacted...

I started drip feeding in LLOY this week after the divi was cancelled. I'm drip feeding in because I expect the share price to fall a lot further.

From the media...bet Vodka sales going up...

Belarus FA (BFF) general secretary Sergei Zhardetski says there is no reason for the league to be suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The outbreak has put world football on hold for weeks and it remains unclear when, or even if, the season will resume.

Belarus has decided against taking such measures to tackle the spread of the virus, however, as the country's Premier League is carrying on as normal.

Four people have died with the disease in Belarus and there have been 351 confirmed cases of Covid-19, but the government has avoided cancelling sporting events, closing businesses and urging people to stay inside, as many countries have done.

Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko has dismissed fears of the coronavirus as "mass psychosis" and urged citizens to drink vodka and wash their hands with it.

He also said: "People are working in tractors, no one is talking about the virus. In the villages, the tractor will heal everyone. The fields heal everyone."

And - IMO the treatment of the banks is down to PRA and FCA - who seemingly stitched up the banks before informing ministers.

What sensible comments.
Ppl think they can simply demand money from the banks and be given it.
Wiser ppl may remember how difficult it was to get a mortgage in the 70s.
This "I have to have it now" madness needs to be reined back.
just like the UC claimants - I want it now!
Scrutiny is essential after the lack of it when considering PPI claims.

I work In the banking industry. I know what’s coming in terms of pressures on margins, pressures on banks to just give or for free, defaults, liquidity and credit risk (for the banks customers)

So many predictions about the growth rate of this pandemic.
Hoping the lockdown will slow things down.

Not much rigorous analysis to assess how many businesses will go bust if this lockdown goes on until the end of May.
It will mean financial ruin for many families and businesses.
That is why the lockdown will be phased out within 3-4 weeks.

Journalists, politicians, doctors all imposing financial ruin on everyone, although they themselves are not affected financially.

This will end more quickly that people imagine, financial ruin and social unrest are too big a price to pay fort trying someones theory.

Sweden are working normally and relying on the public to show restraint and take the precautions about social distancing and hygiene.

Don't forget, Brussels put two fingers up first to Greeks then to Italian's and Spanish and France...It was Russia, China and Cuba who sent health aids to Italian's not Germany. Germany said f#ck them all as long as we are ok.. they close borders and stop medicine exports.

It's unelectable for Chinese or Russians or Cubans helping us out.. is that so?Countries like them are always well prepared to cope with all kind of difficulties or disasters than the rest of us.This virus proves our system (or governments) not work for the majority... sleep on it.
