k38, I haven't expressed my views on smoking or people who smoke. Your questions seem to think I have although I'm not sure whether you think i am pro or anti smoking. I have just stated truths as i see them, without comment of my own views.

My own views are completely irrelevant to whether 100 or 10,000 smokers die each day. I don't really see what you are getting at.

Rates have one purpose and one purpose only...support the property market and borrowers...at the expense of the savers permanently ...

I thought the same, limited liability and a seperate legal entity. Indeed, I would have strongly agreed with you.

I'm trying to find the articles I read. I'll search again when back at my computer.

It's quite possible the article missed some keys points out. In particular, shares can be issued fully paid, partly paid and nil paid. There is also the distinction between the nominal value and the share premium.

k38, do you realise you risk your loved ones' lives when you go for a drive?

m5, if you want to do any sort of analysis, you have to do it without emotion or any other bias.

I could say old people don't die if it makes you happy, but with that as a starting point, any further anlysis would be moot.

I'm all for the weak (whether by age or disability or bad luck) isolating themselves away from the rest of the population who would very likely see no or little bad effects from covid who could keep society going.

If I were 20 years older and on deaths door, I would post exactly the same and use exactly the same wording. I can be emotional but I can turn off emotion when i want, and had to all the time when i worked.

You may willing to risk your life and your family which is a bit of selfish.. but do you ask your family if they are willing to take the risk... I don't think they will agree with you!

You raise the very valid alcohol situation then m5.

In fact raise anything at all which show the press covid deaths numbers as alarmist and emotional.

Yes k38, I'm prepared to put myself and family at risk of death by covid. Just as i, AND YOU, do for death by flu and death by driving.

Selfish?, of ffs, my views are the opposite of selfish. It's YOU who are saving a very small number of people near the end of their life and effectively sentencing to death some young fit and healthy in greater numbers imv, once the total effects (to you .. unintended consequences = we did not think) of these measures are taken into account.

All well and good saying some older people would die anyway. I suppose it just rolls off the tongue until its someone in your family that pegs it. PO I am sick of hearing about smoking references aswell, can't you change it to alcohol and the massive cost both financially and socially that has on the Country. Just saying, :-)

Your friend as always.....;))
