John Frankel 29 Jan 2020 1:46PMGreat Britain survived the best part of 1,000 years without needing to join a supra-national European grouping, oh and by the way also built the largest empire the world has even seen in the process. Leaving ? 'Je ne regrette rien' as they say in some foreign language.

"I certainly see a better engaged youth that have a better understanding of reality"

Aye, of course they do. I suppose living in dreamworld has its advantages. We have all been there, nice as it was, eventually their/our own experiences and the harsh reality of life and responsibilities will kick in, and their attitudes will change, its called self preservation. It's called the real World.

I certainly see a better engaged youth that have a better understanding of reality than the aged landlord gammons on this thread. The gammons have had it too good for doing relatively nothing which has bred their ignorance.

Boris will fail at some point. The Tories have been running a Ponzi scheme for the last decade and have managed to blame their failures on everyone else. Eventually the music will stop, pain will be experienced, apathy will end and the BS Boris, Murdoch and Co spout will no longer be accepted. Youth will extend their power and we will have no choice but to return into the EU. Hopefully the gammons will be dead by then so they'll never know! LOL

It will be difficult to guess the date when we shall re apply for membership of a reformed EU.

It could be an issue in the next general election if the economy takes a nosedive.
Brexit will be blamed even if there are other reasons for a decline.

If the economy does reasonably well, then Boris is in for 10 years and we shall probably never rejoin.

It will be sad if we rejoin as many of the retired Northern working class voters who made it happen will not be around to see it.

Frogs pay 25% national insurance, most pay rent in retirement. No comparisons can be made so stop moaning.

Only 50% of frogs pay any income tax....about 35% more than the Jocks.

Consider yourself lucky LADESIDE to live in a low-cost affordable area of the country where your pound has elasticity! Bishop Auckland's enjoying a property price boom since they went blue, it'll come your way soon. That's the truth!

It wasn't me with the green tick grahamite lol.

We are the best LADESIDE...if you need proof that's why all the illegals choose to come here rather than places nearer to where they came from. They know they'll get escorted to shore, fed, found accommodation and stay ages before deportation, if it ever happens. Other nations wouldn't let them near.

We don't get much media coverage from France due to the fact that our Government don't want the general population here to know how much that they're being screwed with their pensions.

Instead, they prefer forums like this one where everyone harps on about "Great" Britain and that we're best, our country is best and everyone else is struggling.

Oh dear, if only some woke up to the truth...........

Outrage as Swiss trainmaker Stadler awarded contract for Tyne and Wear Metro

Robert Lea, Industrial Editor
Wednesday January 29 2020, 12.01am, The Times

Days before Britain leaves the European Union, the Department for Transport has spent £337 million of taxpayers’ money for new trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro to be built overseas.

Rather than have the rolling stock made near by at Newton Aycliffe, the British home of Hitachi Rail, it will be built 900 miles away by Stadler, the Swiss trainmaker.

The decision left the Unite union and local politicians fuming. Ben Houchen, Conservative mayor of Tees Valley, called it a “terrible and appalling decision” that “fails to protect a major North East business and local jobs”.

Pat McCourt, a local Unite officer, said: “This is the first test of the government to shape up and protect UK manufacturing. Unless the government takes immediate
