Emmanuel Macron praises Theresa May for being loyal and respectful to EU during Brexit James Crisp, brussels correspondent 21 JUNE 2019 • 3:34PM Follow Emmanuel Macron praised outgoing British prime minister for being “incredibly loyal and respectful” to the European Union during the Brexit negotiations after an EU summit in Brussels on Friday. The French president’s comments are likely to be seized on by Brexiteers as proof that Mrs May was too soft on Brussels during the talks that ultimately cost her her job. Mr Macron said, “All the way through the negotiations she’s been incredibly loyal and respectful, she never stood in the way of Europe. We sometimes disagreed but she never took the discussions on the future or Europe hostage." More: | maxk

21/6/2019 20:24 | Poor old Boris seems to be having a late mid life crisis. I saw the Thatcher documentary and recently watched Theresa suffer. Why do they bother, it always end in tears and failure. I wonder if this spat with his latest will tip the balance in favour of Hunt. Character does not seem to matter as much as it did, ex Trump. | careful

21/6/2019 19:52 | Boris for PM? Are you serious? Guardian: Police were called to the home of Boris Johnson and his partner, Carrie Symonds, in the early hours of Friday morning after neighbours heard a loud altercation involving screaming, shouting and banging. The argument could be heard outside the property where the potential future prime minister is living with Symonds, a former Conservative party head of press. A neighbour told the Guardian they heard a woman screaming followed by “slamming and banging”. At one point Symonds could be heard telling Johnson to “get off me” and “get out of my flat”. The neighbour said that after becoming concerned they knocked on the door but received no response. “I [was] hoping that someone would answer the door and say ‘We’re okay’. I knocked three times and no one came to the door.” The neighbour decided to call 999. Two police cars and a van arrived within minutes, shortly after midnight, but left after receiving reassurances from both the individuals in the flat that they were safe. more.... | polar fox
