Strange thing to say Stu when the man himself says he wants to?

CL qualification should nail the deal that I think must already be done?

Heskey (1 goal in 1054 appearances) replaced by Cisse ( 71 goals in 107 appearances) bodes well for Liverpool.

Sorry Jas!

I'm a bit late and didn't know a link anyway.

I'm about as much use as a Scholes in front of an open goal.

Thailand prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has reportedly bought a 30% stake in Liverpool, believed to be worth around £65m, although the club have yet to officially comment.

Newspaper reports this morning claim that Shinawatra will officially complete the deal tomorrow, with the money coming directly from the billionaire Prime Minister.

Thai Deputy Minister of Commerce Pongsak Ruktapongpisal said last night: "We will sign the contracts with Liverpool's representatives on Monday."

The deal will reportedly open up massive marketing and commerce for Liverpool in the Far East, with Thaksin asking for a football academy to be set up in Thailand and players that come through it who are of a good enough standard will join the club.

If the reports are correct and Liverpool receive £65m from any such deal, then surely that would boost the summer transfer funds aided with potential qualification for the Champions League.

As mentioned, Liverpool have not, at the time of writing, commented on the speculation.

can't see it either

looks like we've wrapped up 4th, (fingers crossed)

Saints away is tough, i'd expect a draw there which will leave us with a CL qualifier, shame we can't play the mancs for it.

With Heskey playing to his strengths the difference in Owen was open to all to see how much these two are good at playing together.

Stephane Henchoz has today been castigated for saying that "at their peak, Liverpools' players are better than Uniteds'"

I believe he is right. That United are on their way down and Liverpool are on the up so this is a challenge to prove this by means of statistics from 7th Feb until the end of the season.

This is the table as it stands - 09/05/04,

.........................Played......Won......Drawn.....Lost......Pts

1) Liverpool...............14.........7.........4.........3........25

2) Manchester United.......14.........5.........4.........5........19

Re. "Impressive win" TD, quite right.

Birmingham are no mugs and the best bit is that when Liverpool went one up, there was no question of sitting on it. The boys went for and got more.

Just one more good performance and we'll be playing with the big boys next year. That's a result considering our troubles earlier in the season.

We critised Houllier for being unadventurous. He's doing something about that.

We critised Houllier for bad buys but it's obvious a few of those are being offloaded this summer.

We critised Houllier for team selection but is sticking with your convictions necessarily a bad trait in a manager?

We critised Houllier for not developing players but in Gerrard we probably now have the best midfielder in the premiership.

One thing Houllier has achieved is a disciplined environment. Through all the flak and all the pressure of intense critisism, even ridicule, Houllier has stood firm but more importantly we have hardly heard a peep of discontent from the players.

IF (yes mancs it's an if) Kewell can get his fitness, both mental and physical, back and we can find one more outstanding midfielder to go with our world class Gerrard, things could turn around.

Maybe this thread has a little life in it yet against all the odds?

On the whole - It was an impressive win against Birmingham.

I understand the views of a minority of Liverpool supporters who have concluded that losing Howlier is more important than winning all the games you can and keeping the heights of fourth place. (I've never been in favour of that view but getting rid of Howlier is something that most Liverpool supporters want).

The problem is that only one Liverpool manager has been sacked and GH has nowhere else to go.

It's nice to see all the Liverpool supporters on here celebrating an impressive Liverpool win.

You'd be here if we lost spouting off eh?

Nice one lads.

If you're unsure about the manager, just get us fourth place and we'll discuss the options after.

The league position does not lie and on the whole the teams end up in the positions that they have earned.

That said; a number of results appear to have been tainted by brown envelopes since the PL came into being. For some time I've advocated the theory that a camera panel should oversee referee and lineman decisions and order immediate corrections if obvious mistakes are made.

Far better to occasionally slow the game a little than allow tainted decisions to stand.

"The fact that Villa are challenging for the CL is all the proof that is needed about how poor the PL is this year .
I should think most Villa fans cant believe how high up the League they are .."

I know it's great.

Come on the villa.....

that is very true. but all the "jam tomorrow" stocks i am frittering cash away on probably have more prospect of results than the frenchman

one ray of sunshine is that if ruud goes to spain perhaps we could offload the injury prone dwarf to man u after all.
