So go away until next year then, if that's your view.

Happy to sit on my hands and wait for my predetermined limit buys to kick in (or not).

There's absolutely no rush here - The stock will be here next year! :-)

Agree with CGT, and also to use that £2k tax allowance.Used as part of a good tax strategy (SIPP and ISA first), you can be as tax efficient as possible. At some point we will have to pay tax... but much of that tax is squandered on government vanity projects. For me it is definitely worth the extra 'key strokes'. You need your wits about you, but your tax saved can be called a salary!!

A small rally from here maybe before the US opens and then who knows what to expect for the final couple of hours today.
Going into a Friday will not be much fun either as I suspect many will sit on their hands and enjoy the good weather. Volume is really low across the board anyway right now.

Long term though I think we are all fine here but these next few months are going to be messy.

The question now is are we going to see a few thousand points shaved off the Dow in a few days?

Guardian 107 - I use the stock/fund transfer facility using Fidelity to transfer assets to my wife.

Rongetsrich - it can be useful for capital gains tax purposes

Looking like we will end in a nice place today as the ECB shock news this morning drifts away and the US looks positive ahead of the Fed decision in a few hours.

That and the final few hours of trading stateside will determine our opening tomorrow and to be honest I would not like to call the direction.
Spud may get his 235 or we may be north of 255 in 16 hours!!

Well sold my trade from the other day at just under a 5% profit it all adds up really don’t like the way the Dow is trading treading water perhaps for a big dump? Of course could be wrong but feel sure it’s coming and that will cause some damage can’t believe it hasn’t happened already there is know good news .

A little more complicated than that Gary you have to factor things like index trackers, etf’s,currency, shorters etc.

marktime,

Is LGEN really sensitive to macro economics? In terms of general insurance, motor is a must, buildings is a must if you have a mortgage. Fund management to some extent. Annuity business will benefit from higher rates and has predictable cash flows.
