06/6/2022 18:53 | Me too Woodhawk but as always it seems many of those joining this game make the same mistakes. I think it's human nature to take more risks when younger and chase the big bucks. Time after time though it's slow and steady that wins the race. | tuftymatt
06/6/2022 17:08 | Sooner or later the vast majority of the 'get rich quick' brigade lose their pot or wise up. I know, I did both! | woodhawk
06/6/2022 15:18 | I personally think that more are turning towards these "value" companies as against "growth" but it's a slow shift. The main cause of the shift is difficult trading conditions so the minute things improve the shift back to growth will be there. Long term I think the stability and strong dividend means it's far safer here but to the get rich quick brigade they don't see the appeal!! | tuftymatt
06/6/2022 14:47 | speedsgh I could not agree more i am in almost the same position as you and am amazed that more people do not invest in these companies which i treat as my banks!!!!!! | oldfellowme2
06/6/2022 10:45 | Good spot, @panshanger1... ".. But I now increasingly focus on income, withdrawing my Isa dividends rather than reinvesting them. On the cusp of my ninth decade, I do not regard this as an unreasonable indulgence. So two-thirds of the AP proceeds went into what I term “The Three Sisters” — Aviva, Legal & General, and M&G — on an overall 7 per cent tax-free return. I find it quite extraordinary that this return is obtainable on such companies compared with nearly zero on cash in the bank. Do swaths of our population not realise what they are missing?..." | speedsgh
06/6/2022 09:38 | John Lee in the F/T at the weekend very supportive of L &G and the insurance sector in the money section I notice One of the first ISA millionaires and a very successful investor | panshanger1
02/6/2022 19:54 | Looks like Woodhead has worse manners than Piers Norgan; a failed upbringing, and a lack of closeness other than with his/ her wrist!! | rongetsrich
02/6/2022 08:57 | Not sure but if so I think they will get mopped up given time. Plenty of positive write ups lately and my view is more and more people are starting to realise these offer great value at these levels. I will top up at sub 250 if the drop continues early next week and the next two days stateside will give us an indication on how Monday morning will look. | tuftymatt
02/6/2022 07:01 | Have we another big dumper? nearly 35m shares traded yesterday, well over the average per day. | p0pper
01/6/2022 19:43 | You have about as much idea as anyone else, Rongetsrich. Filtered (joining Grim, Geardown & all the other useless cliched idiots currently present). | woodhawk
01/6/2022 19:38 | Divi banked elsewhere this time. This puppy is not healthy when you compare similar types.240 and below is the place to buy. | rongetsrich |
