13/6/2022 09:08 | Tempted for another small addition following late Friday but am holding back due to US futures looking bleak. Long term I totally agree with Spud but short term there may be a better entry point later today / tomorrow. | tuftymatt
13/6/2022 09:03 | Continuing to add in £5k tranches per -5p increments.There's money to be made in a slippery Market.spud | spud
13/6/2022 09:02 | CWA, am I correct that it's ok to call people morons? Seems rude and unnecessary. Most would quietly filter.... not call names. | geardown107
13/6/2022 09:01 | Oh dear, just as I assumed this was going to be the civilised / polite thread we appear to have got some unnecessary unpleasantness. Hope it doesn't persist. | scobak
13/6/2022 08:55 | ...It may never end, as if the next stage goes to classic gorilla insurgency it will come down to a high body count to end it... No, that's what happens in Planet of the Apes. I think you mean guerilla. | anhar
13/6/2022 08:49 | They are facts a Trev, but shares only ever go up! As long as you know that it may be that you are unfiltered! The Recession drop has started, but this falling knife has, potentially, far to fall.A world recession is going to ruffle some greatly thought out plans. | geardown107
13/6/2022 08:37 | Added this morning. UK mkt as per usual chucking the baby out with the bath water | dope007
12/6/2022 23:44 | Lol,am I bovered wooddawk it’s not doom mongering there all absolute FACTS. | 123trev
12/6/2022 23:34 | Oh, give it a rest with your endless doom-mongering, Trev123, you sad moron. Filtered. | woodhawk
12/6/2022 23:05 | So to add to everything else a possible trade war with the EU looms as the protocol is probably about to be broken now only adding to market pressure. | 123trev
12/6/2022 13:38 | Yeah my approach is to be in and stay in rather than try and trade in and out of this one. I then look to buy the dips using divis and additional funds. Dips will always happen in good or bad times as all shares go out of favour to some degree during the year for numerous reasons. However you play this one, good luck to all holders 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
12/6/2022 12:42 | Of course you can trade this share particularly around the dividend ( I have done in the past) As a longer term investor you can also buy on the dips, reinvest the dividends and eventually take the income preferably from a SIPP or ISA as I do now Decent company and very happy holding | panshanger1
12/6/2022 10:41 | Trev, you are absolutely spot on.Much of what is yet to be taken into account in any share price is unprecedented. The war is far far from over. It may never end, as if the next stage goes to classic gorilla insurgency it will come down to a high body count to end it.I think any figure plucked out of nowhere by an expert(!) is complete folly. There is a massive upside to this share, but after a potentially sour downside in the near to medium term. All buying opportunities, of course. This is an income stock. | geardown107
12/6/2022 10:20 | It’s about reality my yield here would be epic lol and timing is absolutely paramount of course but also looking at those events that can make you or break you.L&G is a great stock but with high inflation with us for a good while rising rates, war and the fed unwinding not sure all that’s in the stock price yet could be wrong . | 123trev
12/6/2022 07:18 | Totally agree, Trev. Timing is everything, and full use of our CGT allowances are key to a good tax efficient strategy. The tax free dividend allowance of £2000 each doesn't really go that far. SIPPs and ISAs are great but they're the easy bit. | rongetsrich
12/6/2022 07:02 | Trev,Good for you.LGEN only owe me 192.62p in my SIPP,and 204p,in my Fund and Share account. So getting Dividend income of 9.7%,and 9.2%,plus capital gain,s of £5,680. Dividend,s received atm are £4.544.and only started buying LGEN on 21/04/2020.Also took profits of £20,820 on 08/10/2021 at 282.50p.My advice to you is always keep a core holding in LGEN.My holding is 4,000 shares SIPP,and 10,000 FSA.All the best GC | garycook
12/6/2022 00:34 | I really think you guys need to undertake a basic maths lesson not being funny but I seem to be able to make considerably more money not taking the dividend. What was the price here when it went ex divi! What was the divi! What is the price now! Been a theme here and with many other stocks for a while now AND you can’t argue because it’s a clear FACT. | 123trev
11/6/2022 12:52 | Buynotwell, Lol | jugears
11/6/2022 12:12 | I must say how much more pleasant it is on this moderated thread without all the raving and drooling morons muttering to themselves elsewhere. | woodhawk
11/6/2022 10:12 | Quite right @ Woodhawk LGEN one of the few financials to keep paying div through the pandemic in the face fierce pressure to suspend I might add | panshanger1
11/6/2022 09:52 | I am expecting my best ever year for divi income this year - the share prices of many great companies have already been driven so low that yields above 7% are no longer exceptional across the board. Even if (*IF*) some might be temporarily cut, I am still expecting way above average returns - ready for reinvestment at possibly even more advantageous low share prices. I have next to nothing in my portfolio that is not paying divis - and most of those companies are prudent and highly reliable. I also think that Putin's war *could* end suddenly and - in the case of this sector particularly - there is the beneficial effect of the relaxation of Solvency II (particularly beneficial to LGEN, PHNX etc). In any event, thanks to high divi levels, I am being well paid to sit this out. | woodhawk
11/6/2022 09:20 | Woodhawk, that to me is key to buying a few more yesterday. Solid divi paying companies that have been around for years will remain around for years so in times of market fear they will become attractive "safe havens" Yes they may well drop like everything else but by adding on the dips and holding long term people will get a solid return when the growth comes back to the share price and taking into account the divi too. Forget the tech / growth stocks right now and play safe with those that pay out decent dividends and have seen all this before. | tuftymatt |
