Was going to top up my Aviva shares with both dividends, but LGEN are the better value now.

Yeah this one has had a tough month or so, as with many out there, but so good to see it heading back in the right direction now. I thought it may have gone a bit lower before the quick turnaround and like most was spooked out from topping up.
Credit to those that did and to those who jumped aboard when it looked a bit choppy 👍🏻

Exactly - and it would be the all time high.

As I've mentioned before, I hold these from under a pound and have neither need or intention to sell.

TBF I'd rather see the share price at 330p than 250p, even if I wasn't planning to sell...

adejuk, so true.
I traded my way over the past twenty years or so and lived to tell the tale which I guess is something. However the approach I take now seems much easier and also likely to cause less long term stress and give an even better return.

I think when you are younger you are encouraged to be more aggressive in your approach as you have time on your side. However you don't normally have money on your side or knowledge so you would be better off taking less risks with quality companies.

Look at the recent big tech losses etc. Plenty of new young investors into those over the past year or so and now sitting on a big loss. History repeats itself all the time in this game so don't fall for that and play safe and stable for the long term is what I tell those who ask.

The share price of Legal & General is quite volatile in financial downturns. It does, however, look like a good top-up opportunity in a summer meltdown as the next quarter looks particularly challenging given the macro tailwinds. It's got a 20 year plus record of shareholder value creation and never had a dilutive equity raise in that time + only had small pull-back's in the dividend. So, it's a long-term growth business, with ROCE > 20% and a dividend yield of 8%. Boring it may be, but it's difficult to spot anything particularly wrong really with leading pensions, investment management and insurance arm's. It's a nice company, but on a low valuation. Boring is good.
