17/5/2022 14:36 | Yeah this one has had a tough month or so, as with many out there, but so good to see it heading back in the right direction now. I thought it may have gone a bit lower before the quick turnaround and like most was spooked out from topping up. Credit to those that did and to those who jumped aboard when it looked a bit choppy 👍🏻 | tuftymatt

15/5/2022 15:40 | adejuk, so true. I traded my way over the past twenty years or so and lived to tell the tale which I guess is something. However the approach I take now seems much easier and also likely to cause less long term stress and give an even better return. I think when you are younger you are encouraged to be more aggressive in your approach as you have time on your side. However you don't normally have money on your side or knowledge so you would be better off taking less risks with quality companies. Look at the recent big tech losses etc. Plenty of new young investors into those over the past year or so and now sitting on a big loss. History repeats itself all the time in this game so don't fall for that and play safe and stable for the long term is what I tell those who ask. | tuftymatt
15/5/2022 15:14 | woody. v funny. i wish i knew gear i've read most imo 'a mathematician plays the market' is the best conclusion - like all the others without his math is the same the mrket is unpredictable i've gone through the menu the best - apart from elliott - warren buffet buy good co's with a moat and don't be upset if your investment goes down by 50% the market is a way of transferring wealth from the impatient to the patient unfortunately, i discovered this when i was too old for it to make a difference if you're under 40, buy good divi stocks and ignore the sp i wish i had know this 20 yrs ago | adejuk

14/5/2022 21:03 | The share price of Legal & General is quite volatile in financial downturns. It does, however, look like a good top-up opportunity in a summer meltdown as the next quarter looks particularly challenging given the macro tailwinds. It's got a 20 year plus record of shareholder value creation and never had a dilutive equity raise in that time + only had small pull-back's in the dividend. So, it's a long-term growth business, with ROCE > 20% and a dividend yield of 8%. Boring it may be, but it's difficult to spot anything particularly wrong really with leading pensions, investment management and insurance arm's. It's a nice company, but on a low valuation. Boring is good. | topvest
