Yes fenners66. I've done my own research. I have a holding under 4p. Risky, but rewards are high. Not interested in day to day price action ticks.

MA should team up with LA and inject it all into HoF stores - The Brand would get a new Life and help HoF towards being the Harrods of the High St. imo.

The beauty with this is that it has already been downsized, has a great website and is an outstanding British Brand.

I've been buying under 4p. Great recovery opportunity.

So if you are posting here I guess you have read this threads concerns....

And have ignored them.

Despite the concerns being aired when the share price was in the 20's.

Also an "Independent" non executive which has previously served under the current leadership for many years as CFO and not a single cell of skin in the game! There needs to be a properly independent non executive with no ties to the Malaysian ownership with a significant holding to actually be holding the rest of them to account.

I strongly urge everyone still holding their shares to submit a proxy vote against the re-election of the directors. Most people hold shares with their nominee (their stockbroker, e.g. Hargreaves Lansdown Nominees Limited) so you can contact them and instruct them to cast your votes against the re-election of the directors.

Finally, should anyone agree that this company is being destroyed by hapless management then please message me as I am putting together a consortium of shareholders to push the board for change and welcome all support.

I warned you about the management a few years ago. It's Khoo who calls the shots. Ng & Anglim are total lightweighs.Sadly LA cannot attract good senior management & it's likely too late now. LA is on a painful path to extinction. GLA

Sorry but how can a minor investor with no ability to attend a general meeting - to question directors - be happy at a board that for whatever reason - buys a property with all the cash a company has and more - barely uses it and then sells it 3 years later to a new company vehicle that appears set up for the purpose - at a £5m (at least) loss ?
I say at least because there was interest to pay on borrowings.

There seems to have been no actual reason for buying it - and the share price reacted accordingly.

At best it is incompetent.

I prefer to invest in companies with competent directors.

Fenners it's time to move on now. Yes it was certainly not the best decision to buy the property which most knew and even questioned who actually owned it through the divorce period. The good thing about Thursday news is the clarification and news that we are finally disposing of the property at a pretty good price all things considered. We now can move on and focus on he growing on-line sales business and hotel expansion.Growing profit is almost a given in 2019. The market perceived these as bust hence the price falling below 5p. Pretty big upside here I would say. Dyor etc

What does this mean , why is it in the circular for the sale of the property - which was bought 3 years ago and why do they go to lengths of talking about the last 2 years ??

"3.3

in the ordinary course of business, there are no other contracts which have been entered into by
members of the Continuing Group, in the two years immediately preceding the date of this Circular

"The Property is being sold with vacant possession, save for a small number of units as set out
in the Sale Agreement. The Purchaser will allow Laura Ashley Asia to occupy these units until
31 March 2019 free from rent, subject to Laura Ashley Asia bearing the related costs thereof.
Laura Ashley Asia will deliver up vacant possession of the relevant units on 1 April 2019"

Implies they hardly ever used it

Such a wonderful management decision to buy it then.....

"The Board therefore conducted a thorough marketing exercise for the Property and after, taking into account the above and the interest received in the Property, the board has concluded that acceptance of the offer received from the Purchaser would be in the best interests of the Company and Shareholders as a whole. "

Is that the same board that concluded it was in the best interests of the shareholders to buy the property ?

You mean the property they bought for £20m and have sold for £31m Gorse? Works for me"

Well if that works for you shepc - I have some very rare brand new £5 notes that are easy worth £50 each but I'll let you have them for £49 , bargain.

I think my Nigerian cousin is trying to get hold of you as well.

From the 30-6-2015 RNS

" The total acquisition cost to the Company, including Goods and Services Tax ("GST") and stamp duty, will be approximately SGD 73.0 million (GBP34.5 million). "

Looks strange, I mean how could they be so stupid as to throw away £4.7m loss on disposal and 3 years of interest on the mortgage when they are such intelligent successful business men ?

Who are they selling it to ?

"SB (29NIR) Investment PTE.LTD ("Purchaser")"

When the property is "commercial property in Singapore located at No.29, New Industrial Road ("Property")"
Clearly the purchaser is a vehicle set up just to buy the property .

Who owns them - what do they do ?
