The Board announces today that due to personal obligations, Mr David Walton Masters, Deputy Chairman and an Independent Non-Executive Director will not seek re-election to the Board of Directors at the Company's Annual General Meeting (the "AGM") on 16 October 2018 and intends to step down from his positions from the date of the AGM

Carefully chosen wording "personal obligations" ........ ermmm ?

So with no more detail we can only speculate what personal obligations - obligated him to step down from the role.....

Not the first director to resign here .... and they can see better than most what is going on.

The rest of us have to draw conclusions and the share price helps that process....

It is luck that Laura Ashley downsized it estate of shops sometime ago, as it is now in a strong postion as far as retailers go - if they can be called a true retailer now that is. However, the potential is there for ALY to take advantage of the current problems on the high street.

This could be a good point for the company and the stakeholders imo.

Singapore property wholly owned and confirmed by Ng CEO is worth more than current market cap again. Valued at £30M+
Also ALY did make a profit in H1.
People forgetting that.

I thought the same, not seen the one you mention
as we do not watch soaps, but another large
green colour backed advert mentioning their sale.

Lets hope we are pulling through, you would have thought
we would only spend on adverting if we had the cashflow,
dyor.

Not sure if it is an increase but I have noticed quite a few adverts for Laura Ashley in recent times, even at peak times (middle of Corrie). Will it have an impact ?

The fact that the company has not reacted to a 55% move in the share price could indicate something is afoot. An announcement over the weekend perhaps?

It is an undervalued share with a lot of short interest. However there has to be a takeover rumour for such a degree of short covering.

The other week we were being valued at £28m, the Singapore
building was on the books for this amount approximately, so
the whole of aly was being valued a zero, so this move is
maybe reflecting the case that this was wrong, who knows,
not me for certain, dyor.
