13/10/2013 13:43 | A balanced view point churchman I may well buy in again tomorrow and wait for the next results and pick up a nice diviin the meantime, whats your opinion | tom111
04/10/2013 17:03 | Thanks for the advice everyone. I had more or less reached the same conclusion to ride out the storm and catch the expected upturn when all this stupidity blows over. GLA | werty5
04/10/2013 16:13 | Good news for Laird's telematics side of their business - More than 400,000 cars were sold in September, the largest monthly total since March 2008. | churchtower
04/10/2013 10:33 | Werty5 - Far be it for me to give you advice but I usually sway between the optimist's view of the glass half full and the engineer's that the glass was too big in the first place. Never the glass half empty. Certainly I just cannot see the Republicans damaging mostly themselves and those who vote for them, as they are those who have the most wealth and the consequences of not agreeing the limit would be disastrous for them and the country. I don't think they would ever be forgiven. I therefore believe that it is better to be in the market than out and we will see an agreement reached before the deadline. Regards - CH. | churchtower
04/10/2013 09:21 | If you shares drop by 50% can you still live? If you take your money out of the market and you miss the up, what will you do? Choose which sounds less painful? I am personally keeping my money in the market. I even bought some shares today. | metier9
04/10/2013 09:17 | Some nice buys in there Church. I am in a state of flux, with the U.S debt ceiling due to be hit on Oct 17th do I sell up and wait for it all to blow over or put my tin hat on and ride it out? must admit thinking of putting the tin hat on, I can't see the U.S not raising the limit it would be mayhem and if I sell I could miss the woosh on all my shares would get from a limit raise. Any thoughts on this anyone? | werty5
04/10/2013 08:55 | Some substantial trades going through this morning. | churchtower
30/9/2013 21:41 | Thanks Contrarian. | werty5
30/9/2013 12:45 | Thanks C2I, Do you know of any good websites which give you a heads up about when any US fiscal news is due? | werty5
30/9/2013 12:17 | werty5, It is very hard to get a junkie cleaned up and off their addiction. The YANKS just love their drug-induced highs. So when Markets have uncertainty it leads to other indices and even good solid company's like LRD being sold off unduly. I have cancelled my £2.15p buy order and will instead wait for markets to stabilise before I buy LRD once again. GLA | contrarian2investor
30/9/2013 11:34 | C2I I take my hat off to you, looks like you called this one right. Wish I knew a little bit more about or understood U.S fiscal policy and how it will effect the market. On the plus side for all those still holding still think medium term Laird will do well and I think we are on target for some good results when the next statement is due. | werty5
26/9/2013 11:47 | C2I thanks for that. Glad that you too are positive on the longer term prospects. I continue to add with this in mind with a further purchase of 2356 at 224p this morning. Also as a longer term investor the healthy dividend is a major factor. Additionally I continue to anticipate good news in the Interim Management Statement due in four weeks time or earlier which was hinted at in the audio presentation in early August . | churchtower
25/9/2013 21:20 | churchtower, I am very positive on LRD long-term but I have opted to trade out ahead of all the US debt ceiling volatility and other US-centric issues. I've got a buy order at £2.15p. Let us see if I am lucky. If LRD holds up at current levels through the US "noise", then I will also buy below £2.30p ahead of the interim results. | contrarian2investor
25/9/2013 16:34 | Comment in the Guardian on Friday - "The fortunes of five UK companies are known to be closely tied to Apple's. Of these only Volex and Laird Technologies feature on the supplier list, but chip designers ARM Holdings and Imagination Technologies, and semiconductor wafer maker IQE have profited indirectly, and handsomely. CH. | churchtower
24/9/2013 10:13 | C2I - Have taken the contrary view and added further first thing this morning. I would be interested to know why you sold with your presumed awareness of the current encouraging Apple sales ? Chartwise too it looks as if this is a test of the neckline of the recent reverse head and shoulders pattern. Regards - CH. | churchtower
23/9/2013 18:37 | Remainder of LRD sold today. | contrarian2investor
23/9/2013 18:33 | And an article from auntie backing up the Iphone sales. | werty5
23/9/2013 14:08 | Record sales for opening weekend. Mind you they did sell in China on day 1 for the first time which would have added a few million. hxxp://www.theverge. | woracle
23/9/2013 11:24 | Seems that Apple investors gave the new Iphone series a mixed reception but all the news reports indicate that it is selling like hot cakes so fingers crossed this will reflect well in Lairds share price. | werty5
22/9/2013 23:12 | Saw a TV ad for the budget iPhone | zcaprd7
13/9/2013 14:57 | 40% of Laird position sold. | contrarian2investor
11/9/2013 11:45 | Yep LRD Sp up nicely of late.Glad I held on, as was tempted to bail out. | addison17 |
