Upstream FWIW "While the well results are not known, the fact that TotalEnergies is set to issue a statement on its Namibia drilling campaign within days — it is also close to wrapping up a well test on the Venus-1X discovery probe in Block 2913B — could be taken as an indication that positive news is imminent.

“I believe that TotalEnergies will be issuing a statement soon,” said a knowledgeable source.

On the implications of a statement being released and it relates to Nara-1X, another source remarked: “I think it will be good.”"

Very interesting, so it's completed Nara. If Nara was successful it will next drill and appraisal on Nara, if not it will drill another appraisal well on Venus. The movement after Walvis will be a big tell.

Weird. The GTA fpso did a 180 about 5 hrs ago and is now heading N retracing its route. It's about 100km offshore; i.e not manoeuvring to enter a port.

edit---> after 10 hours going N at 4 knts now going S at 4 knts. Strange.

edit---> after further 10 hrs going S now going N.

It's doing 50kms up and downs 100kms off coastline of W.Mads in a place where there isn't much marine traffic. Driving school stuff or a virtual parking lot ;-)

KOS/BP also in arbitration on diversion of LNG cargo's. GTA FPSO about 1/2 way down W coast of MAD's now. An expensive diversion!

Day 81 for Nara-1X. Interestingly Nara-1X is just 1.05kms W of 2913B/2912 boundary.
for ref boundaries are on these meridians.

GTA FPSO left Mauritius about 4 days ago. Heading NW in direction of Somalia! There is a large sheltered harbour Diego Suarez; N Madagascar. Could it be headed there? Or just rounding Nth Mads and taking the more sheltered Mozambique Channel to S.afr? Upstream recently mentioned the pipe lay contractor was possibly threatening to down tools as hadn't been paid by BP who (i presume) may have said "well you haven't laid many pipes".

Shell rig is 5.65kms E of boundary.
Total's 1X DST Test is 23.38kms W of boundary.

Maps show Venus extending almost to boundary. Ditto for Jonker.

OK yes it's believed to be the same geology. Exactly the same source rock and reservoir horizons aiui from various reliable internet sources like upstream etc.

Starting at Jonker-1

JX to J1A 22km NW 300°
J1A to VX 32km NW 293°
VX to V1A 12km NW 336°
V1A to NX 23km NW 289°

JX to NX 86km NW 299°

(Jonker-1X was 53kms SE of Venus-1X)

I presume J-1A being drilled is close to the block boundary?

However it's 32kms from J1A to V1X. So V and J could be separate accumulations on the same trend. OTOH there has been some speculation they could be linked. Patrick P has said Total and Shell have been/are sharing data to enhance their exploration campaigns.

Cripes, this is getting confusing. The Venus appraisal was about 13km norhtwest of the exploration well. Nara (formerly Venus West) is around 20km west of the appraisal well?
Jonker appraisal is about 22km northwest of the exploration well. I thought the Jonker exploration well was pretty close to the western boundary of the Shell block - ie around 25km southeast of Venus and the same geology as Venus?
If Nara and Jonker-1a come in this is potentially starting to look a bit silly.

In fact more like 22kms. Can't access the article yet. But surely in a success case this increases the probability that V and J are part of the same thing? Plus maybe Nara? Nara is about 90 kms from J-1X.
