08/3/2022 11:50 | Our favourite construction firm was the top contract winner last month and is the third largest contract winner for the rolling 12 months. And currently only valued at four times forecast annual earnings. Interim results for H1 are due out any day now. Kier propelled to top league spot by Gloucester mixed-use scheme | stdyeddy
08/3/2022 08:30 | wally/bathboy -- using both of your handles at the same time now? Keep it up you little pr@tt. I see that your Russian investments have destroyed your account again. What a shame. And you being such an 'expert'!! 😊 | stdyeddy
08/3/2022 08:25 | You seem sensitive to criticism. I hear that that can be a painful position for a stupid person. 😊 | stdyeddy
08/3/2022 08:12 | hxxps://www.construc You should have looked at the economic warnings rather than criticised. | stutes

04/3/2022 15:17 | The City seem to be factoring K being squeezed by inflation. | stutes
02/3/2022 15:58 | I think the issue here was how KL was doing business. There are effectively 3 different methods, as a contractor for a developer (your normal builder), as a joint venture, or as a company scouting for land, going through planning, then building. From what I understand there are very few true JV's out there. Maybe affordable housing, but that's about it - I mean for the classical builds of "T" shirt type houses in the burbs. The third path is immensely draining on resources. You buy land (or have an option on it for a set time, then buy it) , you go through planning (my last venture took 17 months due to Covid) then you build. It's immensely stressful on your balance sheet, and time consuming to get a profit. The only way to make it work is measure it as Return on Capital, opposed to flat profit due to the multi year aspect. I think because Kier are into bigger capitalised projects mostly from the Government and Utilities these days they don't have room for big money on the books twiddling its thumbs for a few years. I have a similar situation - I'm always cash poor , asset rich(ish). The classic property development route ain't always easy :) Although it's immensely fun. | propdeveloper
02/3/2022 14:53 | Dream on stdy, I'm not in Russia, or metals, Wally maybe but that's his lookout, 90 % of mine are in the UK and US and in biosciences, big money to be made especially in the last 2 years | bathboy2
02/3/2022 14:06 | hxxps://www.construc I appreciate KL would not have the same economies of scale as Persimmons, however, the margin should be above K's target %? The business was sold buy K needs more turnover on a lower margin to match KL's profit? | stutes
02/3/2022 10:41 | Oh dear, wolly/bathboy, you really are getting totally fvcked from being in all those Russian gold miners. And they STILL haven't opened the Russian stock exchange. No wonder you're so quiet on here. You must've been totally wiped out again. | stdyeddy
01/3/2022 15:00 | jay, sparty doesn't live here anymore. | stdyeddy
01/3/2022 14:05 | The current quick rise in material and fuel prices etc, will have a detrimental effect on all, it will cause a raft of business closures and administrations, and it will, cause interest rate rises and the government has no more money in the pot, to cope with all the demands on it, this could break the economy and only the strong will survive, | bathboy2
01/3/2022 12:37 | I haven't sold any here since early October. Keeping a ~5% of my portfolio holding for the long term. Still seems cheap to me. The geo-political reason to move away from fossil fuels has become hugely more obvious and urgent. That is on top of the climate emergency. Doing so, is going to require a lot of investment in infrastructure and New Energy. Green hydrogen and renewables are reflecting the markets renewed focus on that with a recent sharp recovery. Kier seem well positioned in delivering efficient and sustainable projects. The idea that any money I am spending heating and lighting my home or fueling my car could be going into Putin's evil hands, however indirectly does not sit comfortably with me. The EU Parliament's moves to ban Russian oil and gas shows I'm not the only one. I have no sympathy for those losing money on Russian bets. | petersw1
01/3/2022 10:33 | Lol. V good 'forks. Wollymetal has fallen silent here, probably because he's taken another massive hit on Russian-based firms, same as his long silence after getting blown up by his short on Kier last year. My guess is that we might be about to see a big ramp up in concrete and steel projects (eg aerodromes, submarine pens, docks, and nuclear power) due to the changes wrought by Russian aggression. With any luck we'll be getting an update in a few days. | stdyeddy
01/3/2022 07:24 | Polly metal more like wally metal Let's hope Davis has some good news to share this might be a make or break moment for a lot of shareholders especially pi's Good luck longs 👍🏻 | ontheforks |
