In a nutshell I see the short thesis as ‘commoditisation’ of KWS services. The proliferation of AI competence will erode their competitive advantage & put pressure on gross margins. How significant the impact is remains to be seen, however several hedge funds appear to think it’s going to be material.

I think the 'threat' to companies like Keywords from AI is extremely hard to know. Why can't Keywords use AI to make better services themselves? After all, their clients still want to focus on creating quality games, rather than doing every bit of programming for their production. An ideal writer of great games doesn't care about programming, only stories, concepts, adventure and artistry. Surely a tech co. like Keywords is going to squeeze all it can itself out of AI, as it's main purpose, not just wait to become extinct...

Think there are a lot of headwinds here. The gaming sector in general is struggling as the cost of living limits peoples ability to buy games. That will inevitably lead to less investment in games. AI has the potential to totally change some of the services KWS provide, Localization can already be automated but the move of AI into graphics could total change the need to outsource as well as code being generated by AI bots. Customer care could also be impacted. The last results were also 'flattered' by the strength of the US$ (they stated that in the results), as the US$ has fallen 20% against the EURO since then this will have a negative impact on the next results. A PE of 34.9 is ok for a growth company but if the results miss there could be a share correction to the more normal 14 of a tech company or 12 for services. I'd buy if they hit £15 but there is a lot of risk around these at the moment. Do your own research.

That's what caused the plunge & has prevented any kind of recovery. The next support below £21 is at around £18 (2019 highs, upside resistance during early Covid times)

It must relate in some way to the April Goldman Sachs report (mentioned earlier in this blog) on Companies which will gain and those that will suffer, I do not think that KWS is in the latter category but GS do!

A very large purchase that inspires us all to top up ! Would have been a better idea to leave it till a later date . Perhaps his salary as NED is minimal and he cannot afford more ! He should ask for a rise ! I wonder if he took advice from other directors before buying . If I was the CEO I would have lent him 20K to buy them , interest free ! Perhaps after my comment a further 20 K purchase might be announced . He obviously wanted 25K and missed a zero off .
